TFK Astro Hall of Fame

In a brand new time-honoured tradition TFK will be inducting one player to the TFK Astro Hall of Fame every Thanksgiving Day.

The present players, staff, supporters and forumites are all eligible to vote in this historic election.

Our inaugural competition promises to be a memorable affair with a magnificent list of candidates, all of whom would probably be worthy additions to the Hall of Fame.

There can only be one winner however, so please vote for the past player you feel most deserves this prestigious recognition.

This is your chance to give something back. Be grateful and remember those who don’t have a vote.

“Difficulty is the excuse history never accepts.”

Candidates in rough alphabetical order

Arshavin23
Rob Casey
Clarkeycat
Colly
Kylo
Ledge
Brian Tinnion
Ro

Sincere apologies to anyone I’ve forgotten. Maybe next year eh.

Brief Profile/Biography where available

Arshavin23

A veritable superstar. Arshavin23 brought a touch of class to TFK when introduced to a workmanlike team. Two astro medals in his back pocket and an integral part of our scouting network these days.

Rob Casey

Peerless wideman. Old style chalk on your boots type. Lost him to a music career - if he’s half as creative and inventive in that field he’ll be on Farmer’s obscure music thread soon. Another one with a league medal.

Clarkeycat

A player who modeled himself on McManaman. Footballing philosophy was “pass and move” according to our original profiles buried deep in this forum somewhere. Clarkey was a freescoring striker in Raheny and matured into a graceful defender in the Sandymount years.

Colly

A striker.

Kylo

An old fashioned traditional Longfordian striker. Kylo played the way he was facing which was occasionally dangerous but often effective. Few will forget his five goal haul in Raheny including a deft touch with the hand to seal an early win for TFK. A huge loss to this forum.

Ledge

The flair of Arshavin23 but unfortunately never quite had his attitude.

Brian Tinnion

If Arshavin23 was a superstar then Tinnion was a megastar. The pinup boy of his generation. Good looks, a neat hairdo, always well turned out, the lad had it all. A tireless servant in the TFK jersey. Those medals are shining brightly in NYC these days.

Ro

A lotto winner.

Nemesis, Fran, Krusty, Doyler and Tayto were deemed to have played insufficient games so far to be eligible for this election. Appendage wasn’t good enough to make the vote. Smelly has not officially retired so will be a likely candidates in future years.

The player with most votes at 12 noon Irish time on Thanksgiving Day will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie the casting vote will go to Dunph. In the event of a rules dispute The Link Walsh will have no jurisdiction.

Thanks to Pikeman for his work on the logo.

I will not be campaigning for this but I’d like to go on record as saying I’m honored to make the shortlist.

Very noble of you Tinnion.

Before the event I’d imagine the bookies would have had it as a 4-way competition between yourself, Clarkey, Kylo and Arshavin23 but Rob Casey is off to a flier.

I’d like to commend TFK Astro Club for what I believe to be a marvellous new innovation.

The truly great clubs embrace their history and take inspiration from it. Some outstanding players have passed through TFK’s books and it is only right and proper that we celebrate and honour them.

I will need to consider the options carefully prior to voting but I congratulate all of the nominations.

While the nominations were well made Bandage that simply wouldn’t have been possible without the nominees so I hope you’ll join me in congratulating them too.

I can just imagine the high Tinnion must be on now as he goes on his evening jog around Central Park.

“The following are the nominations for the best international band award”.

Explain.

Easy this.

Tinnion gets the nod. The trustiest left foot that has ever graced an astro pitch I dare say.

Honourable mention to Kylo for kicking a lad through the net and scoring 5 goals in one game including 3 with his testicles.

outrageous homophobia being displayed by the voters.

Huh?

Where’s my other one gone?

The nominees were nominated in the nominations. So they are the nominations but the people who deserve the congratulations are the nominees.

It’s like goalscorers score goals. You might say: “The following are the goals in the Goal Of The Season competition” but one would wish the goalscorers luck and not generally the goals themselves.

Serious run of votes for Tinnion now. Hardly surprising. Always good to get a controversial figure into the Hall of Fame.

I voted for Rob Casey.

He came into the squad and we became astro champions - coincidence? I think not.

Clarkey and Tinnion had been around since the start and we got nowhere.

Ledge can find himself pretty unlucky not to get a vote - he had a similar impact to Rob Casey but just lost out narrowly.

What’s the story with the logo? Is it one lad, possibly a reference to Clarkey, bumming another lad and that lad sticking his dick through another lad and out his back?

While at first I was pretty cool with this thing and expected it to go Tinnion’s way, I am appalled at only having one vote. Whoever voted for me, thank you. And let’s have sex.

Clarkey, whatever became of the friendship you struck up with WTB on here? Did ye ever meet up in Galway afterwards for drinks etc??

Is that Rob Casey guy from Cork? Is that his real name?

you are welcome, mate

You know yourself, Dunph, bit of texting, everything’s going great but then there are bigger gaps between texts and eventually it just fizzles out. I haven’t a bad word to say about WTB. These things happen.

I’ve also approached ballobas on here about being mates but no dice there either.

Pukey’s a pal.

indubitably good buddy
