TFK Fun Running Thread 2025

I’ve the Coros Pace 3. I barely have to ever charge the fecking thing. That might be due to lack of use though.

It’s absolutely fine and the battery is outstanding. Think I paid 200 quid or so for it.

Edit: €249 from Run Hub but got €50 back on the health insurance n

I’ve this too. Good watch.

I wouldn’t do 10 mile in that time. Unrale!

Cheers lads. Nice to have the national championships in your home club. I’m totally biased but it’s a cracking half marathon. Great community atmosphere.

I see a few forumites registered for Ratoath on Saturday. If any of you have any entries bouncing around club WhatsApp groups, let me know!

Sanity prevails and the DCM expo moves back to the RDS

Any joy with getting an entry? Don’t know if Dublin half next week selling out earlier than usual has pushed more people to Ratoath. Haven’t seen any spare entries being sold in my groups.

Are you still looking for one?

Have one now thanks.

I wonder if the presidential election taking place on the Friday had anything to do with it. Dunno if that National Show Centre is a counting place…although the RDS used to be. Maybe they just changed back after people complained.

I had assumed the RDS was unavailable due to the Presidential Counting initially. I think the Dart is out of action for the weekend again as has become tradition.

That place off the M50 would have been way handier for me. The RDS is a pain to get to

If anyone wants an entry into DCM hit me up. I’m OUT due to injury and work.

Great running from @Bandage and @Wexford1996 this morning  . Nice to be introduced to @Bandage’s club mates as ā€˜his friend from Wexford’

It’s one of my favourite events as the route is so favourable and the test around the racecourse at the finish is always a good mental challenge when you’re tired. Happy enough with my own run considering where I’m at. Went out to try do sub 1:45 and came in 3 mins ahead of it so can’t complain.

No niggles for the next few weeks now hopefully :crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3:

Great running from everyone. That was a very good run from you off relatively low mileage

I’ve done more 26k+ runs in the last 4-5 weeks than I managed before either of the marathons I’ve done. Everything is just slow and steady to try get the body used to the load. Plenty of niggles but feels like it’s working. And hopefully the speed will come.

The first 10km today was as enjoyable a run as I’ve ever had. Felt extremely comfortable and moving well.

Haha. Yes, it was a great morning for Irish athletics with @Wexford1996 blazing a PB, your Sophie O’Sullivanesque gutsy display off low mileage while on the comeback trail & I was happy to dip under 1hr40 after a spell where my times seemed to be heading in the wrong direction. @fenwaypark reaching out to put some structure on my training definitely helping me - thanks again pal. I’ll hopefully take some confidence into this last stretch before the marathon but I’m sure my inner voice will find some negatives/doubt to occupy me. Sure didn’t I run a 1hr39 half in 2022 during the DCM training block & then run a very disappointing marathon…

Good to see the TFK crew taking advantage of WFH Fridays for their Marathon prep.

@Bandage on a completely unrelated topic, did you know that you can hide your start time on Strava? Its a lovely little feature.
