TFK International Business Travel Thread

ive never gotten an afternoon red eye before , maybe the eyes will still be red from the early morning red eye flight?
will you have a few drinks and do a Prenderville on it duing take off on the flight back pal?
Anyway, Im in a BT (Business Trip) at the moment to Austin, Tx.
Took the 0-55 AM local time very red eye from Tel Aviv to JFK flying El Al, one of the great advanages of flying to the US from Ireland is you can do your immigration in Dublin or Shannon , obviously flying from the middle east this is not an option, arrived at 06-40 am after ~12 hours flying time, I had 2.5 hours to make by connection with Jet Blue airways to Austin, so i collected my bags and made my way into a hall with screeching hispanic women, black men who had no doubt arrived from Nigeria or some place, Arabs in full garb with women in burkas from the Saudi Airlines flight and a gang of haredim jews who were trying to get into new york to celebrate the second sukot hoilday. I approached immigration officer Wong at the desk, he had extreme difficulty with my 2 passports, i possess a L1 visa to the US in the Israeli one but he also wanted to see the Irish one that didnt have a visaā€¦ he then proceeded to tell me in a jacki chan type accent " four fingers , right hand" which flummoxed me initially but then i understood it was needed for a scan or somethingā€¦ anyway i got in and made it to Austinā€¦ ill update later

How long does it take to clear immigration in JFK?

Are you travelling there on business?

First meeting was a tight, tense affair with defences on top. But I expect things to open up now in this one commencing at 11am and Iā€™m planning to go on the offensive in the last 15 minutes anyway.

is this an internal or an external meeting?

Timing is everything.

Always assess the most important person in your audience, if its a large person then they are usually wildly distracted as lunch approaches and will agree to anything to get their daily fills of high GI carbs.

However, If your opposite number is a bulletproof coffee drinking lean machine then you had a tough time of it.

I hope it went well pal.

FFS KP, itā€™s 12:55, Bandage wonā€™t be able to respond to your post now, heā€™s busy signing off on everything so he can head for lunch.

Returning to Dublin with 2 away goals.

Are you flying from Dublin? If so youā€™ll probably clear immigration in Dublin and be straight out at JFK.

If you need to clear immigration it can take anywhere from 20 mins to 1.5hrs. Depends what flights come in at the same time as yours. In all the times Iā€™ve flown to the US Iā€™ve never been more than 30 mins. Thatā€™s what political campaign donations to your local republican congressman or senator can do for you.

Incidentally Iā€™m headed to the mid-west this weekend. Will be my first trip to the region. Flying via New York so will get to stop by my old neighborhoods en-route (the ā€˜eā€™ on the end is silent btw).

Round about way to get to Clare, but whatever.

Back in Ireland. A lady sat in beside on the busy return flight, made eye contact and exclaimed, ā€œGees, itā€™s jam-packed-a-rooney!ā€

She probably formed the impression that you were a simpleton.

Was she looking at your lunchbox at the time?

Lame quip. Up your game, old man.

Donā€™t forget to tell Clarkey. Fancy that, contact with a woman!

You go on as if I hadnā€™t already brushed up against a woman in a Coffee Shop queue this morning.

Glad to hear you made it back safely mate, those afternoon red-eyes are 6 times more likely to crash than any other flight I have heard.
