TFK Intranational Business Travel Thread

Our snappers always ask when we are driving home if we can book the restaurant on the way to galway, as it’s the best they’ve ever been to.
Said restaurant , at which we always reserve a table is, in truth, the burger king at the apple green place just after the toll booth near kilbeggan

When does it become viable to get a company car? I’ve c.5,300kms done in 3 months. That would put me over 20k business km’s in a year.

Think you’d have to be doing 30k in total to keep the BIK down to a reasonable level.

from 32k to 40 k business miles means BIK of 18% of original value of the car so on 35 k car thats BIK of 6300 a year so you would pay about 3200 a year extra tax for having the car.

from 24-32 k miles its 24% of value
up to 24 k miles its 30% of value of car

lot depends on other arrangements in the company IMO, like what c per mile (if any) they give you or what else might be covered. Id imagine it would cost a lot more than 3200 quid a year to keep a new 35 k car on road if you had to pay for it, tax and insure it and service it. but you might be losing out on a decent milage claim on the other side although thats probably worth a fuck once over the 6500 km limit…

I am getting a car allowance and mileage but the mileage isn’t great but still worth it. The car I have is alright but a 1.6 diesel, 09, no cruise and I’m up and down the motorway a fair bit. It isn’t that I have car envy but if I’m to do a fair amount of mileage then I’d be better off with a better motor under me.

Thanks for the explaination Dan :+1:

Yeah if you’re getting a car allowance you need to add the net car allowance you’re currently getting, the milage you would be foregoing and the net impact of BIK to see what cost of having the company car is.

I’d be surprised if it was worth it if you were doing sub 30k km a year. I wentered thru it in a fair bit of detail before and it wasn’t for me anyways

A fuckin disaster of an Intranational business trip means I’m now stuck in Dublin for a second night.

You need to leave that shithole mate.

This is work for a different company

I’d be away into town for a few pints of porter anyways.

Alternatively you could catch Hozier for an “intimate rehearsal show”

I’ve more to get finished here and then I’ll retire for a stroll around town. All the work I’d lined up for today is rescheduled for first thing tomorrow morning so I won’t be going on the batter.

Where should I go for grub and a couple of pints ? Somewhere casual for the food. Southside city centre

I had a savage feed in Yamamori about an hour ago. The Japs put on some feed for light ladeens.

The 51?

Have you the car with you?

Chop House
Angelina’s
Searsons

Top notch roaster fare alright(chop house), not a place to ate alone though if that’s what he’s doing

Catch 22 on Clarendon st for fish and chips and a pint or two and then over to Kehoes for more pints ?

Where are you staying?
