We’re only a couple of weeks from our last tweaking of the site design and a couple of thoughts spring to mind:
I don’t like the new look at all for some reason.
There are some issues with notifications with posts appearing unread when they are read and other related stuff that might be server or software related but it beats me.
There are a few code issues caused by some newer features that are accidents waiting to happen.
All of which points to a need to fix things a bit. But rather than fix them, I have a longing to completely change everything again.
Instead of just going right ahead with this I’m inviting comments from members on what they value on here and what they don’t. There are lots of ancillary type features like the Pickem and Last Man Standing and the Bookie that are relatively popular for a couple of weeks and then become redundant and stale.
There have also been plenty of efforts at re-doing the look and feel and lots of efforts at adding a front page, some of them have been decent, but it’s fair to say they don’t really affect the majority of people who post (or lurk) on here.
So I’ve looked at a few different options and I have an idea of what we might do. But before we all move to this new wonderful place, I wanted to gauge opinion.
If I said that we’d be losing the following features:
[]Post ratings (will be likes only)
[]Some poll features (but keeping most of them and making polls much better overall)

Pickem (can do it externally anyway), last man standing etc
would everyone be terribly upset?
I’ll be perfectly frank - the new forum is going to look really different. The basics will be the same but it will feel very different for a while. I’m 51% convinced it is infinitely better, just takes a little getting used to.
To help with that I’ll hopefully set up a trial version of it for a few people to look at in advance.

Post ratings were the best thing you ever did. Leave them be

I mostly agree. They are a little ugly though (not sure that bothers anyone) and they’re tied into the site’s current existence - which is problematic because the site is causing a few problems.
@Rocko - the ratings are old. It creates lazy interaction among forumites and they may have to actually interact with someone instead of clicking on ratings if you do away with them… I can see why insecure posters like @Horsebox and @Julio Geordio would be opposed to removing them, they need regular validation… Other than that only @glasagusban and his spelling ratings will be ‘effected’
