Bit out of the blue but Grandmaster Flash is playing in the Library bar in Limerick tomorrow. Might check it out!

Is there anyone else going?
You picked the worst song on one of the greatest Hip-Hop album ever, congrats Laz.
Lads,
What are the opinions on here on the Wu Tang Clan?
One of my best mates in school was mad into them, as well as smoking weed and dosing about. Me being the achiever that I am, I dismissed them on that basis. I have heard some songs from them recently and they sound really good. Where would be a good place to start?

Good question. Their debut is their popular album with white people, but the sound quality wouldn’t be the greatest. Their follow up is a double disk entitled ‘Forever’ which is adored amongst the Hip-Hop community but for the casual would probably be heavy going. It probably has their best known song though…

Their follow up is ‘The W’, which was their most commercial release to date and definitely worth a download, although again a couple of songs are poor sound quality wise. After that they went downhill as a collective, although 2007’s ‘8 Diagrams’’ was decent imo. Get their first and third albums to start.
Good thing about the Wu is that their individual releases are superior to their collective stuff, which is rare. As such, if you are a fan of abstract lyrics and extremely dark Hip-Hop get GZA’s ‘Liquid Swords’, Raekwon’s Ónly Built 4 Cuban Links’ is a mafia rap classic and Ghostface Killah’s ‘Supreme Clientale’ is a darling of all music critics, and also the first successful Wu release not produced by RZA.
Anyway I’d start with those 5 and see how it goes.

Now that is what I call a helpful response. Cheers.
I’d been meaning to bump this thread. Haven’t gotten a new hip hop album in a while, anyone recommended anything recent?
This is pretty class, seriously showing off!
