That's it ! everybody in RTE should be executed forthwith

Kelly was very comfortable there by the end, he’d have gone another while there and finished today if he could.

I don’t believe there is a BBC deal for Ryan, I’d say he is going to say he has fronted up when others didn’t, it was a misunderstanding and he will seek to enforce his contract.

Big win for him today, reading back through nothing has really landed on him. He has the bit of deniability, first one was from Renault, I thought they all were, I’m just a presenter…

He’ll be delighted, rambling nature of the questions meant he got a lot of his shit in as well…

Its essentially down to a moral argument of whether he should have took the money considering covid but as far as he was aware it wasn’t public money.

Would you turn down €75k a year extra?

I didn’t hear it all. Yer woman pointing out that he was preaching to the nation about charity, sick children and us all being in it together and how he would happily taking his paycut…while he wasn’t actually taking a pay cut. That was a head shot. The odious sneering cynical thief

I took a 20% paycut. The 75k Renault deal that arrived at the same time, proposed by RTE and underwritten by RTE was entirely separate and unrelated.

The key issue is RTE having to bail out his contract after Renault pulled out.

It’s not a completely separate contract if RTE have to backstop it.

Nothing illegal but the optics are terrible given his public pronouncements and it rakes up all the memories over state bailouts of banks etc.

Fair enough if you don’t believe them but as far as both are saying they weren’t aware of that?

He conspired knowingly to deceive the Irish public. He has lost the confidence of the nation. Legally he might be fine. Morally he is bankrupt.

He has to go.

Fair play, you got there in the end.

I don’t see how they can’t be aware of it?

Is there a list of all the corporate gigs Tubridy would have done for Renault to get this money?

I presume when Renault pulled out, these gigs stopped?

Otherwise, what would the money have been for?

I don’t actually give a shit

Wasn’t the first actually paid by Renault when none of the gigs had taken place due to Covid? If they were happy to pay the first then its easy to imagine from their point of view that continued for the following years

Surely he had to do something? You can’t expect to be paid 75k a year for three years without doing something for it? Even if he did nothing for the first year because of Covid, society had opened up a lot by the second year of his contract which would have been 2021-22.

Yes the two were completely unconnected and the side contract had nothing to do with the contract negotiation that happened at the same time where he took a 20% paycut.

The side contract was between Renault, a private company and RTE

Was there any questioning around the fact the 75k was supposedly in return for just three events per year?

You don’t have to actually care to still get it right

To pay money to Tubridy.

From a private company

Twas alright but I don’t know did they ever get him reeling. The fucker ate it like a sweet. No sustained onslaught.

The thing with these hearings is people only remember the absurdities.

And thus Brian Stanley asking Noel Kelly what did he sell for Cadbury’s and being told “chocolate” will be the only thing anybody remembers.
