Was full back on the team that reached an intermediate club AI final about 15 years ago as far as I remember
He was a solid club full back for Dicksboro. He’s currently involved coaching juveniles in Dicksboro. His Grandfather, Grandmother, Dad and uncles were GPs and were the Kilkenny hurling team doctors for decades.
The Cuddihy family are extraordinarily well regarded in KK.
He’s a qualified solicitor. Worked with Poe Kiely Hogan in Kilkenny for a couple of years after qualification. Got thrown on the scrap heap during the crash and turned to journalism.
Sure he’s got his foot in the door, snout in the RTE trough now. He’ll be grand.
Serving his apprenticeship
If he can handle the nutcases like @habanerocat and @Chancer on liveline, he’ll be grand.
And sister
It reminds me of the media version of Manchester United from 2013 onwards cc@Footix thread. Cuddihy is a well liked and highly rated performer with Newstalk/Virgin media but RTÉ is a different kettle of fish. The perception of him will change almost instantly and he’ll have to deal with a different level of scrutiny. Can he handle it?
You love those dulcet Mayo tones
You don’t make it at RTE unless you are the best of the best.
Fixed
Tell that to Ray D’Arcy. The lad couldn’t even press the right Jaysus buttons on the desk
I passed Ray out running this morning near UCD this morning! Plenty of time for the running now
He could be RTÉ’s Morgan Schneiderlin and end up at Everton* in a season or two

Shades of Bret Hart’s no-compete clause
this unfolding Irish Radio Draft week is akin to the NFL or NBA, maybe this should become an annual event based on the JNLR figures.
Holding it months before Christmas adds an extra element of blood spilling and ruthlessness for the bread and circuses
It is cathartic and refreshing, hopefully opens up possibilities for some young talent
It would be fairly common in (Irish) radio that once you give your notice, you get taken off the air if you are moving to a competitor. I know of a few people that spent a meaningless few weeks hanging around a station because their bosses didn’t want listeners staying too familiar with their voice. Then again, I think Claire Byrne has continued to present with RTÉ.
