Ray D’Arcy says he is still hurt about how things ended for him at RTÉ last October. “It was a shock. I was disappointed. None of that has changed.” And yet, he is also excited to launch two podcast series, Ray D’Arcy Daily, from Monday, and Being Human, an interview series, a few weeks later. He’s gone from €250,000 a year to, right now, earnings unknown, but he thinks the change was a good thing.

Ray is in for a harsh reality check with respect to his popularity.

I Iike Ray but he had a good career for what he brought to the table. He was fortunate to be on TV on a beloved kids TV show at a time when that meant something. People associated him with their children’s good times and overlooked his deficiencies. He was overpaid at RTE and shouldn’t complain.

He’s an idiotic prick but at the same time I’d say he’s intelligent enough. He claims to have had the points for medicine but opted to study psychology instead.

So what’s the story here? True given the salary he was on was excessive for the shite he peddled but did Bakhand just say “Here, fuck off you tosser” or was he made an offer (€150k) paycut and the 2012 COTY gave him the finger and sallied away into oblivion.
He’s unlikely to see that level of income again….

I would have bet everything I had that that was a lie. Ray was this cerebral man all along. They need to give him that contract back…no…they should double it; he’d the points for medicine by God.
I think Twink in an in interview a few years ago( was it Living with Lucy? ) said that if she hadn’t gone into panto she’d have probably been a doctor (or was it a surgeon?).
Between her and Ray , that was a huge loss to.the HSE

I didn’t get that impression from reading that interview.
To be fair to him (as he is a bit of a pain to listen to), he seems to wear his heart on his sleeve.

Seems prideful and a workaholic. His dad was a solider according to the interview and an alcoholic which makes a bit of sense. Doing psychology in college also makes a lot of sense.
