The 2009 Ashes Series

This feast of sport surely deserves a thread of its own.

I would prefer if England and Wales only went with one spinner today and left Panesar out but I haven’t checked to see if they’ve decided on a lineup yet.

I reckon it will be 2-1 to Australia but I wish England and Wales all the best, as the Australian are a pack of complete and utter cunts.

'Mon the Aussies…nothing better than a bit of Pom bashing

When is NCC setting up the signing in thread?

NCC only has time for two Australians.

Hates the country and a large majority of its people

He’d never choose England over Australia though, we need a signing in thread.

Really looking forward to this now. C’mon to fuck Australia.

This little tool from the Guardian looks like it could be excellent:

  • think it will update live-ish for the match if I’m reading it right.

Their OBO analysis will be the place to follow the action in work anyway.

Haven’t see confirmation of the teams yet. I imagine the toss will be at 10.30am given play’s due to start at 11am.

Ah, it’s mind boggling.

England win the toss and bat first.

England Strauss ©, Cook, Bopara, Pietersen, Collingwood, Prior (wk), Flintoff, Broad, Swann, Anderson, Panesar.

Australia Katich, Hughes, Ponting ©, Hussey, Clarke, North, Haddin (wk), Johnson, Hauritz, Siddle, Hilfenhaus.

Two spinners for England.

Ye lads are the biggest hypocrites (bar maybe rock) that have ever typed a word on a forum.

The fucking ashes Bando???
Celtic loving, B&I Lions hating GAA man starts a thread on the fucking Ashes.

The coverage the Ashes gets is without doubt the craziest thin in sport, but for irish guys to be into it, nah, its wrong.

Ah lovely, runs on the board. Gamey call going for two spinners. Surprised Australia left Clark out and went for Hilfenhaus - none of their bowlers have ever bowled in an Ashes series on English and Welsh soil. Mitchell Johnson is obviously the danger but it’s hardly an attack of McGrath, Lee, Clark and Warne proportions. I’m expecting big things from Bopara with the bat over the summer.

No Rock is the biggest hyporcrite.

Presume Bando is taking the piss but this has been one shit summer for sport. Fucking terrible.

Whats the deal in cricket. Obviously nationality is a bit of a blurred issue, doesnt that Ed Joyce play for England but used to play for Ireland?

Racist, sectarian, murdering, bigot.

Who needs a job when you’ve got the Ashes. I’m not gettin dressed. I’m going to the shop for my lunch in my jocks. And at teatime I’m making more banners for Rocko the Innocent and hanging them from the balcony.

When is the dirty protest due to start? *

*rumours from bando leads us to believe it may already have happened

Cook caught by Hussey off Hiflenhaus.

Siddle on and bowling very well apparently. 22-1.

Eng-er-land now 58-1…Strauss playing well…

The Barmey Army are a small bit quiet for my liking

Strauss gone now for 30 - c Clarke b Johnson.

89-2 now…little or no atmosphere in Cardiff…

Johnson bowling superbly it seems.

Bopara c Hughes b Johnson 35
