I would have thought that after your high horse antics about Australian crowds you would have been equally outraged at the behaviour of the Barmy Army. But as usual, your double standards come to the fore.:guns:
Not much by way of insightful analysis or indeed any kind of analysis from our contributor from Australia.
Sum total so far has been, loud trumpeting of Phil Hughes to be the star of the Ashes series, cut and paste jobs from Peter Roebuck, racial attacks on Andrew Strauss & Matt Prior and the revelation that Peter Siddles parents are nice people.

A lot of imponderables for the English selectors ahead of the Oval. While all the focus is on the batting line up, the attack needs to be focused on in a big way too.
Thinking before Headingley was Broads place was under threat. Hes a cert to start at the Oval now, as he was the best bowler in Leeds and can bat a bit too. Assuming Fred is fit, youd have to say that Strauss at 1, Flintoff at 6, Prior at 7, Broad at 8 and Swann at 9 are the only certainties to start. Cook & Collingwood would in any normal course of events be under threat, but with Bopara & Bell performing worse, both Cook & Collingwood should survive. Collingwood is a gritty campaigner and I could see him coming good at the Oval, just like he did against South Africa at Edgbaston last summer when he was under pressure to deliver big and his test future was on the line.
Oval usually favours spin so if the weather is looking anyway dry, England may well consider going with a double spin attack.
Ryan Sidebotham could be in the mix too. Was very good today again against Warwickshire.
Trescothick or Ramprakash are not the answer. Ramprakash has always been a run scorer at county level but has never been able to deal with the pressure of test cricket and make the step up. I wouldnt have any faith in him doing it now at nearly 40. Likewise with Trescothick, a great servant for England and a top class batsmen but with his underlying health issues, its just too much of a risk. Id go with Rob Key before either Trescothick or Ramprakash.
What they should be focusing on are the likes of Andrew Gale, James Hildreth & Michael Carberry. Gale in particular, I like the look of, a gritty Yorkshireman who doesnt give his wicket away too easily.
That’s what the Australians have been doing all summer.
Ahoy!
Weyhey!
I see Ramprakesh has put his hand up. He’s been going great  in county cricket, what has he? 1000 runs this year? He’d be an obvious choice, but a long time since he’s played at this level.
Anyway, I’ll read what Evo’s just posted and see what the oracle has to say.
The fifth test of an Ashes series is not necessarily the time thoigh to be introducing new batsmen into the mix, who haven’t played in the series. Its an entirely risky venture, but of course, if it works out, whoever it is could score big.
There’s a strong possibility that Australia will have an all pace attack and leave Clarke and Katich to do the spinning. In which case there’s every possibility of large innings. It’ll be vital that Strauss holds his wicket, if he wins the toss.
We do now know however that Evo likes looking at gritty Yorkshiremen, and why not?
Anyone read the quotes from Ramprakash yesterday saying that he’s continued to mature as he got older and life experiences like his victory on Celebrity Strictly Come Dancing will stand to him if he gets the call?
I’ve heard it all now. What an embarrassment. If ever evidence was needed of the different mindset that exists between winners [ie Australia] and losers then this should be framed.
Bopara dropped, with Trott to replace him and Bell batting at #3. Flintoff’s fit and will play so it remains to be seen whether they’ll go with 2 spinners.
