The 45s or alternatively 25s or 30s thread

Thereā€™s no sense to the game really

110 is a great game.

Christmas 45s night tonight. Bottle of whiskey ready to be imbibed as well

Jaysus Iā€™d love a game of 110. Havenā€™t played in yonks

Those of a faint-hearted disposition or unhappy with loud and uncouth language (profanities) had better avoid the Abbey Bar on Friday and Saturday nights as the annual quest for Christmas hampers is fought out.

A number of feared elderly curmudgeons will be participating. Mistakes, even of the most accidental manner will be savagely eviscerated and oneā€™s seed, breed and generation will be cruelly exposed in the unfortunate event of a fuck-up.

There will be a serious pour which only exacerbates the angst. Heady nightsā€¦ :pint:

Had 3 games of 110 Saturday evening. Great sport. I made a dogs dinner of one hand that let lads make 110.

Iā€™d love a gameā€¦ Been nearly 10 years since I played any variation of the game.

Not your normal form. Saturday, between exams and 110 has been trying for you. Sympathies.

My brain was fried after the exams, and I was rusty enough. But not too rusty that i managed to slip through an unnoticed comment to my partner that I hoped he wasnt digging a hole for us while I was holding the Ace & King of spades :sunglasses:

All seamlessly achieved as you recovered the beer mat you ā€œaccidentallyā€ knocked over.
Itā€™s often the innocuous thingsā€¦

Had a few games of 45s down in the pub on Saturday night. Playing clockwise the gentleman to my right was a loose cannon and there was never any certainty about the bit of backplay or picking up a dealers trick. But a good time was had by all

Whatā€™s a bit of backplay Fagan?

When the play is coming back into you and you have a reasonable expectation of picking up a trick.

25 has all but died out around my home place.

A terrible shame.

Itā€™s an awful shame. My parents taught us the game, weā€™d spend the whole night playing at home. Itā€™s a great skill to have now. Thereā€™s 5 or 6 old codgers that I play 45s with now a few times a year in Dublin.

the father in law still plays at his pitch and putt (they still have a ham and a turkey game coming up to christmas). anytime i stay over i play a few hands with him, the mother in law and wifey. but the cursing out of him every time one of the women starts reciting ā€œhighest in re, lowest in blackā€ before taking an age to play the wrong card, and thats before they start reneging and nicking his dealers trick with the 5 of trumps

id say if we were in leitrim, hed have them shot
