Hup!

What numbers do you have of each out of curiosity @Faldo . How much was the yield .

Of which @anon26343222?

Like how much does it cost to produce day 200 onions or 500 potatoes

Fuck all cost tbh, the onions were sown from seed and the potatoes from sprouting in box’s in the shed… Time mainly tbh. I had plenty of it this year so went a bit bigger. Do it most years, carrying on from my dad but I wouldn’t be a patch on him.
Did a lot of flowers this year from seeds too for the girls. They are showing an interest so why not, I’m sure it won’t be for long

Nothing like freshly harvested spring onions. Half of these going into an Asian glazed chicken thigh dish for dinner and the other half into the mashed spuds tomorrow.

Can’t grow onions for love or money. Any tips?

@Faldo? We always grew onions from sets when I was growing up in the west of Ireland, that seems foolproof. The germination temp for seeds is fairly high, 20-25C, so might be hard to get them to get going until the soil warms up. I can grow them all year round here, in winter I germinate them on a heated tray under plastic.

Piss in the soil. Really brings them on.

Same as that pretty much @anon7035031, I don’t bother with the winter mind,I plant some red as well
