Well, your answer is above. Probably not hot enough. Other than spring onions, I never saw anybody grow onions from seed.

BPA free? 
No. I went with ones with extra BPA. Last years ones are still going strong in the lead gutters I planted them in.

There’s a mouse destroying my new herb garden 
The little fucker has eaten all my chives twice, and now eaten half the parsley, and a small fennel I had transplanted.
At least you can rest assured he is sleeping well and has no reflux issues.
