The absolute folly of scheduling women’s matches on Centre Court is now being shown up as the rain means that one of these novelty events is the only “tennis” action available at the moment. On that subject, I see Serena was bitching yesterday about being put on Court 2, saying none of the top four men ever play on the outside courts. Well I have a solution. They should run the women’s event separately the week after the actual tennis ends. She could play all her games on Centre then. She might not like it so much though, because the couple of dozen people that would show up to watch it would seem a bit lost in the big stadium.
What’s wrong with women’s tennis?
It’s fine for a perv (depending on who’s playing obviously) but women’s sport is not to be taken seriously under any circumstances. She should be happy that she is a very wealthy women on the back of the popularity of men’s tennis and stop bitching about what court she is put on. I should be able to watch a men’s game at all times during Wimbledon when the roof is there.
Williams v Datte-Krumm was one of the best matches of the whole week though. And I’ve watched a load of tennis this week. Sure half of them have the bodies of men anyway. What’s the problem?
It just doesn’t interest me. Even the best women’s tennis played by its most manly participants is played at a speed and power that is at a noticeably lower standard than the men’s game. Like any sporting contest, it can of course be exciting but I just think it’s shit.
