The All England Lawn Tennis Club Championships 2018

Federer served more aces today (16) against some chump called Lacko than Nadal served in the entire French Open (14).

Thatā€™s the 9th time in his last 12 visits to the Championship that Karlovic has gone out in the 1st or 2nd round - 6 exits in the 1st round and 3 in the 2nd. You need a lot more than a big serve to prosper in the Championship. You need to be strong in all aspects of the game.

His record at Wimbledon is superior to any other slam heā€™s played in.

The other big serving 6ft6 dinosaur that beat him has now also recorded a career best slam performance.

Itā€™s land of the giants stuff.

ā€œBumā€ Kevin Anderson looks set to cruise into round 3 as well.

It says a lot about the universal love and respect Roger Federer is held in that in the twilight if his career (I still have to do a double take every time I see him killing it at this level), he has signed a deal as brand ambassador for Uniqlo for 10 years at $40 mil a year. Itā€™s his talent as a player , sportsmanship and his all round decency that got him that and I wouldnā€™t begrudge him a cent of it. Iā€™m actually wearing a Uniqlo V Neck right now.

Land of the Giants? Youā€™re obsessed with height. Roger Federer and Pete Sampras were both 6ft 1 and have won 15 of the last 25 Championshios between them.

Kevin Anderson has never even made the quarter finals at the Championship. He actually has a better record at French Open.

Iā€™m not obsessed with height. Iā€™m just stating the fact that big guys who are big servers go very well at Wimbledon. Youā€™re the guy trying to argue against facts.

At least thereā€™s something youā€™re not obsessed about.

How many tennis players are under 6 foot? You could probably count them on one hand. You are obsessed with big servers and you are being proved wrong saying all you need is a big serve on grass. Your man Karlovic you were hokding up as an example has been knocked out. One year he got to a quarter final, you have been exposed as not knowing what you are talking about. I see Isner is into latter stages of a 5th set as well.

You need an all round game for grass.

Itā€™s not under 6ft thatā€™s the issue, itā€™s the fact that big serving giraffes excel on grass courts.

You keep reciting Isner, Anderson and Karlovic in support of this proposition. Isner has his worst Grand Slam record at the Championship, never advancing past the 3rd round. Anderson has never made a quarter final at the Championship and has a better record at the French Open. Karlovic has exited in Round 1 and 2 in 9 of his last 12 visits to SW19.

To go very well at the Championship, you need to be strong in all aspects of the game. Relying only on a big serve wonā€™t suffice.

You want to constrain it to those lads.

Medvedev and Struff, two big serving dinosaurs who are 6ft6 and are both on Federerā€™s 1/8 of the draw have both now recorded their career best slam performance at Wimbledon.

You donā€™t like the facts and what they say.

Struff is a 28 year old journeyman who has just made Round 3 of a Grand Slam for the first time. It certainly helped that he was playing Ivo Karlovic in Round 2. Karlovic weā€™ve established is not very good on grass.

Medvedev is a young player starting out, made his Grand Slam debut in 2017 and has reached Round 3 for the first time.

Having put forward Isner, Anderson and Karlovic in support of your proposition and getting demolished on the actual facts youā€™re now citing two players advancing to the last 32 for the first time in support of your flawed argument.

Go and have a lie down.

We have already establish Karlovicā€™s favourite surface is grass. He has recorded 3 career titles on the very condensed grass court season and his career best slam performance is a QF at Wimbledon. Established beyond doubt.

Struff career best slam performance has been this year, on grass. The history books donā€™t lie either - Philopoussis, Kraijcek, Raonic, Ivanesivic etc. Established.

Big serving is vital for Wimbledon. Established.

Oh would ya go way outta that. The 2 of the three titles were not even ATP level, 2 of them were ITF level and the third was an ATP 250 some mickey mouse Hall of Fame Tournament that he played when he was knocked out of Wimbledon. To win that ATP 250 he had to beat that world class player Rajeev Ram who is currently ranked #1076 in the world.

As @GeoffreyBoycott said you need to go and have a lie down. Ivo Karlovic you are having a laugh.

A good serve is important for any player with designs on winning the Championship but a player needs to be strong in all aspects of the games. Former champions Kraijcek and Ivanisevic were both excellent all round players and very good on all surfaces. Kraijcek was a semi finalist in the French Open, Australian Open and three times US Open quarter finalist. Ivanisevic was a US Open semi finalist and three time French Open quarter finalist. Goran was no mug on the dirt. He beat Thomas Muster at Roland Garros and recorded wins there over two finalists Andriy Medvedev and Alex Corretja and Boris Becker as well.

I really donā€™t get this fascination that @Cicero_Dandi has with the serve, what does he want players with good serves to do, serve underarm? Maybe we should stop players with good forehands using the forehand to win points.

Iā€™m stating the correlation between having a big serve and doing well at Wimbledon. Itā€™s the single most important aspect for someone who wants to do well at grass court tennis.

But your not. The players you have mentioned havenā€™t done well at Wimbledon. You talking out your hole as usual.

Nadal has this match won already
