i think the only team left that Cork wonât want to play is DonegalâŚthey donât fear dublin and not kerry anymore eitherâŚu canât underestimate the win in Munster semi final when cork beat them in second gear while kerry, by their own admission, were going full tilt âŚif it happens donegal would pose cork problems as theyâd sit back and let cork have a lot of possession and i think while cork have great individual forwrads youâd worry how well they link up with eachotherâŚkerry bet them in '09 final by doing thisâŚkildare will be a great game for Cork as cork should beat them but get a severe physical testâŚif cork had met kerry now i think their lack of games could have worked against themâŚbetter they meet them in semiâs i thinkâŚ
Re Dublin : no matter what anyone says the longer you can ease yourself into a championship the betterâŚthe hits are massive and there is only so many games players can get themselves up forâŚnow is the time dublin should start going through the gearsâŚLaois will test dublin physicallyâŚMcnulty has them very well conditionedâŚthey took the ball off meath with ease at timesâŚiâd expect the four provincial winners once again to reach all ireland semi finalsâŚ
That will indeed be the back 6. Cotter wonât come in. Carey is a serviceable corner-back tbf.
Thatâs Paul Cahillane Totti
Ah yes, thatâs it alright. Is he any good?
Only saw him in the flesh once, a couple of years ago vs Meath I think and he wasnât bad.
MBB would be better placed to answer your question though
I am going to back Laois to beat Dublin if MBB tells me heâs any good.
Good player, has struggled with injury this year though and is only coming back now. Got a run from the bench on Saturday and gave some nice touches.
I wouldnt put the mortgage on it bomber, weâll do well to keep it kicked out to the imperious Dubs. All I hope is that we give them some sort of contest to prepare them for the All Ireland Final.
:strokechin: :strokechin: :strokechin:
So you think theyâll be more than able to up it once they make the final despite the lack of any decent test since last September?
Yup I sure do.
mayo or Down will have soemthing to say about thatâŚmayo would fancy a crack at the dubs after beating they gave dubs in leagueâŚ
but hopefully dublin will give some nice touches and pull throughâŚ
Thats impressive. If they do manage to cruise through to the final, theyâll have surely had the softest run to an All Ireland final in recent memory, theyâll have to play a lot on memory of last year, but Gilroy seems to have a bit about him despite initial fears, so perhaps youâre right. Just a case of seeing who turns up to meet ye in September.
Canty seems to be at his fittest in years, he has had a nice stretch of both rest and no injuries over the past 18 months, and he is only 30. He hardly played for 2 years, if you can sort yourself out that break can be a good thing.
Shields and Cadogan are clearly our most combatitive and consistent backs, but I just canât believe the way people disregard Noel O Leary. A big game player and wonderfully consistent in recent years in all aspects of his game. Cork as a unit have a phenomenal record and while they may not be as stylish as Timas O Se and the likes Iâd take them as a unit over any other team in Ireland.
To answer a question, Cotter is the form back by all accounts and is expected to play. I have no doubt Kissane will be playing, but I doubt heâll last any game against Kildare or Donegal.
Beating Tyrone and Clare makes Kerryâs midfield great now does it?îîî jesus the standards are slipping next door. God help that midfield in CP if GAlvin is missing.
  youâre too much of an idiot to do cuteness⌠rememeber the guy u went on here 2 summers ago saying was one of the worst footballers you saw at intercounty level ⌠his name : kevin mcmenamin⌠
Whoâs he ?
Not great by Kerry terms, or by the 90âs terms, but in terms of this era, its not a bad midfield. I had my doubts about them both there a few year back, but credit where its due, theyâre doing quite well. Also, I think its Gary Brennan, saw him play for Munster and Clare and heâs defintely better than your average player, whatever about Tyoneâs makeshift one. To be honest, thereâs not many outstanding midfields out there anymore, Denis Bastick is looking good at this point and I think that says it all.
For what its worth, Quigley has put in 3 masterful performances over the last few weeks.
I find it funny that horse would question my watching of games and then comes along and asks why I would see Kerrigan as a bigger loss than Kelly. Kerrigan has arguably been Corks best player this year and tore Kerry a new one in Munster. Kelly has been very patchy since 2010. I know ye try to claim Kelly as your own and probably take it as an insult I rate a man with Cork parents ahead of him but on recent form Kerrigan is a bigger loss. His pace and ability ti break tackle and win frees against a team like Donegal will be huge.
Mbb - that midfield has improved, but are still very loose and both are poor tacklers and defenders, a pre requisite in modern football. They got burned last year when it mattered against Dublin. On the ball Sheehan is a beautiful footballer and he has certainly got fitter and improved his work rate, but thatâs about it.
I think theyâll be found out again. And god help them if they need Scanlon or GAlvin or Tomas are gone.
Fair point, and its well regarded that Kerry play men behind their midfield to compensate for not just the backline, but that also, I just donât think its as big an issue as you were making out. Also, as you say, it would really only become an issue if they had to go for Scanlon, which I doubt they would anyway after Buckleyâs showing against Cork, and if Galvin or TomĂĄs were to be missing. Time will tell on all anyway, but not so sure Dublinâs midfield can get the credit for the turnaround last year.
