The Anglo Tapes

Where does all this leave Sean Quinn? Presumably there’ll be more rallies and speeches from the likes of Mickey Harte and Colm O’Rourke in Ballyconnell.

Isn’t Quinn claiming that because the loans were unlawful they’re null and void and by extension he doesn’t owe the 3 billion or something to that effect. Are the Eire authorities still running around the Ukraine looking for the money? Maybe they could enlist Mad Vlad’s help in finding it.

@Manuel Zelaya , how is the Baron doing these days?, is he still exiled in Connecticut?

If Drumm passed me in the street, I’d probably spit at him.

For leading the dirty dozen to victory in 83 ?

Get over it KP

Unless you’re walking down some streets in Cape codd you’ll never get the chance I’m afraid, he’s never coming home I reckon.

Former Wexford minor GAA dual star Judge Martin Nolan letting McAteer and Whelan off without custodial sentences. Capitalism prevails. Magnificent news. Now let’s get the banking bonus culture fully up and running again.

Delighted for you and all my friends in the banking sector that created the boom in the first place.

Liveline will be hopping tomorrow.

Community service ffs.

Many thanks, bt.

Never mind light touch regulation, this is a light touch judgement that should delight the entire business sector.

Now we have the desired environment with very strong regulation ensuring exorbitant fees for lawyers, accountants and other professional advisers.

But we can all rest assured that there are no implications for not abiding by the regulations.

A great day for entrepreneurs and those involved in commerce in Ireland.

@Bandage can you notify the forum when the environment is right for “dipping the toe again” so to speak.

Law applied to its extreme is the greatest injustice.

You don’t get a custodial sentence if you’re from a certain background in this country, because the country is rotten.

Pat Whelan was raised in a tenement in Marlborough St. You’re talking through your arse Sidney.

Kiss the right arses and ingratiate yourself with the right people and you can go anywhere - except prison, because a kindly ex-garda of a judge will make sure you don’t go there.

Don’t pay your TV licence however and it’s behind bars you’ll go.

the right judgment - the transaction was done in full view of the Financial Regulator who signed off on it/blessed it

I reckon the cases later in the year regarding misstatement in accounts will see jail time for some of them if they are convicted as that was done to pull wool over eyes of the market whereas the Maple 10 stuff was done in full view of everybody and nobody was trying to hide or deceive anybody

People get suspended sentences all the time for violent offences

My sources tell me the “community service” given to Whelan and McAteer will consist of four Monday afternoon shifts behind the bar in Doheny and Nesbitts, for which the men will not be paid. They will be allowed keep any tips given to them, however.

In their shoes I would have done the same thing, legal advice and the regulator cleared them. Get the Lawyers and that useless spineless fuck Neary in the dock.

That useless cunt Neary should loose his pension. They were discussing his evidence on the radio this morning and were saying all he said was “I cant remember”. I think he said it 80 odd times while giving his evidence.

I would have a strong degree of sympathy for the lads in Anglo. They were doing what they could to save the bank, this wasn’t a case of a white collar crime being committed for direct personal enrichment. A custodial sentence would have been grossly unfair.

When is the trial related to the directors loans going ahead?

What I find strange is that Fitzpatrick and Drumm only knew the extent of Quinn’s potential shareholding from a meeting with Quinn himself.
