The Anti Rugby Football Thread Pt 2

Definitely isnā€™t right seeing the mix presently. But weā€™re far from outliers. Two Vunipolos and a Kiwi Captain were all Jones choices for England

his Australia were perfecting it 30 years ago with the likes of Ofahengoui, Tabua, and it was Eddie who brought like of Dan vickerman (former Captain) and Clyde rarhbone who played for boks at 20s world cup to play for Australia

He likely has some solid slagging material to throw at us from his time managing the Japanese team that did so well in the world cup which was full of foreigners.

The 5 year change will hopefully curb this shit. Itā€™s endemic in all teams bar Boks and smaller PI Nations and Eddie himself has benefitted very well from it up to now, far more than most

Eddie has a lovely way of haunting some lads souls

Irish rugby only makes a bigger joke of itself by comparing the situation of the Vunipolas or even Hartley with lads like James Lowe and Stander. The very term ā€˜Project Playerā€™ was created by the IRFU which should be to the games eternal embarrassment in Ireland.

Why?

Donā€™t disagree on other point.

Vunipolas were reared in Britain, the oul lad was playing there from their early years

James Lowe was an established player when he came to Ireland. The England players played all their adult rugby in England. Stander was snubbed by the Springbok system so had to go abroad to get a contact. Loweā€™s example is the most cynical

Yeah, I get that. So, are they English then? If standers recent kid, a bi-product of a mercenary move, plays for Ireland, is he Irish?

Billy Vunipola was born in Australia and moved to the UK when he was 6 as his father got a job there. Dylan Hartleys mother was English and Hartley moved to England when he was 15.
James Lowe was a professional rugby player in NZ who the IRFU offered a huge contract to so he would come to Ireland when he was 25. To try compare the situations in any way is ridiculous.

Ah, no they didnā€™t. Theyā€™d a backrower who played Super rugby and couldnā€™t make All Blacks he brought in.

They were Welsh first, but looks like they were public-school educated in England going by the names.

Standerā€™s kid would of course be Oirish

Yes Brad Shields came from Super Rugby. I was referring to Vunipolas and Hartley specifically

Waldrom was who I was thinking of but thatā€™s two. Waldrom hadnā€™t even stepped foot in England prior to call up I donā€™t think. Ben Teā€™o another recent one Eddie brought.

So heā€™s slinging shit out the side of his mouth. Every nation has been allowed indulge in what shouldnā€™t have been possible

The IRFU need to investigate this. Weā€™ve moved beyond this as a nation.

Heā€™s born in Ireland you gombeen.

Who was the fella England mugged off the IRFU? The IRFU put him on their tit for a few years, and then he pissed off to England and got capped for them.

Gas stuff altogether.

No shit.

Irfu should look into breeding programs offered to ex retired intl of other nations.

Ben Teā€™o ?

It might be more successful than their current program whereby they lure cast offs from other countrys to play for them ahead of their own countrymen.

Itā€™s worked for England with the Vunipolas

Ben Teā€™o in an interesting example in that Leinster brought him to Europe and to Union and England reaped the benefit but he qualified through parentage.
