This is the future for Munster rugby.

The number of Irish players playing at the top level continued to shrink.

The average Irish association footballer playing in Ireland would be better off working for minimum wage in a Spar ffs. :joy:

What an embarrassment. The ā€œglobal gameā€ cannot fill the Aviva Stadium and the organisation is tens of millions in debt because of it. The Partionist game cannot pay a ā€œliving wageā€ to most of its participants, despite taking millions from the enemy of the working man Denis Oā€™Brien.

Rugby football has 26 million more a year in turnover, millions in the bank, assets all over the country and no stadium debt. Itā€™s 32 counties and offers a professional life in Ireland for youngsters.

Robbie Keane earns more in a week than earls does in a year

Very prudent approach by league of Ireland clubs not drowning themselves in colossal debt by paying inflated wages.

The Munster franchise is in crisis. The IRFU chief exec has said it today. They are currently repaying interest only on their ground repayments. They canā€™t afford to eat into the capital. Lost ā‚¬2m last year - and rugby football fans want to lecture association football supporters about best financial practice?

The Brave and Faithful are just not faithful enough as the alarming drop in attendances last season illustrates.

And? Where did I say that top association footballers earn less than rugby footballers?

Weā€™re talking about the domestic league here pal. Using a 36 year old as your example is hilarious. Kids in Ireland who will be inspired by footballers are inspired by the Messi and Ronaldos of this world. Ireland doesnā€™t produce the numbers of top level players anymore, sadly.

Before the Euros how many of the Irish squad were household names in this country? Iā€™d suggest very very few and most have probably forgotten by now. Robbie Brady has probably made a good commercial name for himself now. Then who else? Shane Long and 36 year old Robbie Keane? The Irish athletes front and centre in adverts and the newspapers are the rugby footballers.

Itā€™s a disgrace that the average player in Ireland would be better off working for minimum wage than playing the global game at home. Irish Rugby offers kids in Ireland a pathway to making a good living playing professional sport. Hearing LOI fans laughing at that itā€™s GAS given the state of their patch.

Munster Rugby are a division of the IRFU. Irish Rugby has paid its debts as due to financial institutions.

Football is world game mate. No need to focus solely on the LOI

What pathways mate? There are 4 professional clubs in Ireland and several dozen abroad. How many Irish association footballers are there earning a real living wage now vs rugby footballers?

The English pathways are closing. Now itā€™s more important than ever, that the LOI provides some, because the English clubs have globalised. Irish soccers offers lads less than a minimum wage on average. :joy: Thatā€™s some incentive for them.

LOI will continue to be shit as the barstoolers on here and elsewhere would rather watch English PL football, with foreign players, than Irish soccer.

Add to that that English players are getting squeezed more and more, meaning the granny player quality is getting worse and worse, and the Irish system is in trouble.

The fact that the average lad on here who hates rugby football is a Rastooler and left wing is gas given they all support British teams, a Partionist national side and are kept afloat by the benevolence of DOB. :joy:

Doesnt DOB pay sextons wages

He does a bit of work for Topaz and gets paid for it I think!

He has a commercial agreement with Topaz, as Iā€™ve told you already. Topaz are not owned by DOB.

The FAIā€™s bottom line is directly subvented by DOB, scourge of the working classes.

His salary was buttressed by Denis o Brien mate. I think its the only way the 4 Oirish clubs will ever attract players again

Mate itā€™s not my fault that Irish brands want to be associated with rugby footballers and not association footballers.

Denis is integral to Irish association football. Watee charges integral to the continuation of Irish football.

There are more GGA clubs in Cork than there are rugby clubs in the island of Ireland. Iā€™d say soccer has thousands of more clubs than rugby too.

Soccer and GAA are the games of the masses and the games of the people. A few privately educated south siders, nordies and Cork people and Limerick bin men getting lauded for beating pub teams like Zebre, Treviso, Newport Gwent Dragons doesnā€™t hide that rugby is a minority sport in this country.

You are using GAA clubs in Cork as a stick to beat Irish rugby with? Look at underage competitions. The amount of new amalgamations is huge. Loads of clubs that would have been self sufficient underage now need to join with local villages to compete.

Loads of soccer clubs alright. The hauliers friend. Someone has to buy those obsolete artic trailers.
