Declan Browne too. He scored 5 points from play in a football qualifier against Donegal when nobody was marking him and a shit Donegal team won easily.

No chance. The only one who comes near Long is Mick Kinane.

Niall Quinn would be up there.

He would, if he was from Tipp.

Charlie Swan .

Decent shout.

Shane Long is by far Tipp’s greatest…the odds of making it as a professional player is phenomenal, let alone making it to a top European league… Outrageous odds. Any fat useless lump, like John Hayes, could become a pro rugby player within a few months of playing for the first time.

Shane Long is a journey man kid.

4/5 Junior soccer players in Limerick have 10 times the football brain that he has…he’s not able to see a pass.

He’s lucky, honest and athletic.

Couldnt fault him bar his Tipp address.

So money makes someone elite.

He is not elite. He would be semi-pro level in a number of components of the game. His pace is easiky his primary skill

Kevin Doyle’s biggest break was that their keeper wasn’t sent off after I had rounded him in a quarter final of the national youths inter divisional cup. Doyle went on the score a screamer of a winner late on to put them through to the semi. That launched his career.

To badly paraphrase somebody If it wasn’t for my lack of skill, pace, agility and dedication I could easily be where he is now.

Ad on RTÉ there.

“The battle for 5th place begins. Ireland take on the Wallaroos(?) in Belfast on Tuesday.”

About 15 years ago a question was asked on the Austalian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire regarding the nickname of the Australian women’s rugby team.

One of the options and, indeed the one selected by the bogan contestant, was The Fat Wombats.

Fact.

Ah FFS are this lot not bet out of this by now?

They are getting battered by the Matildas. They will be playing in the 7th place final by the looks of things.

Does every defeat qualify you for a final ?

Catastrophic defeat for the Oirish ladies rugby football team there. More World Cup woe.

In better news Bundee Aki (Corofin) and Tyler Bleyendaal (Knocknagoshel) were training with the men’s team yesterday.

The knives will really be out for Tom Tierney after this. GavCum had already been gunning for him.
