Myself and a mate were discussing folk who seem to get hooked, attracted by, or actively seek out conspiracy theories, trying to understand why they’re moths to a flame when it comes to a world of utter nonsense and he made a great point.
The truth is almost always very boring. Very mundane, and beige. Conspiracy theories are exciting, and they’re drawn away from the mundanity of the truth to the excitement of a concoction of mistruths, and inaccuracies and that he believes that it is an inability to accept, or a method of escape from the mundane.

It’s an entertaining past time all the same. It’s for exactly the reasons you describe. It makes life less dull.
Funny that. Meself and a mate were having a similar conversation but the mirror image of what you espouse. We surmised that people who believe everything they’re told without question are naive and innocent.
The establishment relies on idiots to prop them up and when God created idiots he created many. These idiots will do the establishments bidding for them and try and regulate the market place for thought and political correctness. This in turn creates a hostile environment where no alternative views or scenarios can get a fair public airing.
They think they are smart and nuanced but in reality are just lackeys. Sadly never amounting to anything in real life.
The great irony of course is they are the most time rich to be indulging in conspiracies, fantasies and fairytales but like others to do the thinking for them instead.
