The Battle for Liam 09

Offaly 1-10 Cork 3-17

Nearly over. Aisake with a second goal. Having a great game apparently.

Full Time

Offaly 1-12 Cork 3-19

Laois 0-18 Antrim 1-12

Antrim look to be all but relegated, big opportunity for Down now to claim the bragging rights up North. Fair play to Laois, massive result for them.

O Moore Park is rocking, scenes not seen since All Ireland Champions Tyrone were whipped a few years ago. The Saffrons have been sent back over the border with their tails between their legs! Laois 0-18 Antrim 1-11. Laois abu!

15k at Tullamore.

This is truly a monumental day for the O Moore’s, on the sauce lads, on the fucking sauce.

When will the draw be done for the next round of hurling qualifiers?

8k according to RTE - even at 15k its a shit support considering they get 40k for bog games:D:D

Nice to see a bit of hurling out of them for a change. Jimmy Walsh was class. Half back line didn’t give the antrim lads a look in. Willie Hyland was savage also. I’ve give him stick here before but he was quality tonight. Scored an outrageous point from under the stand in the second half.

Can’t go on the sauce - big match in two weeks. Onwards and upwards lads!

According to the GAA website the provincial semin finalists play each other in phase 2 on the 11th. Draw should have taken place on 21st June on TV3. Didn’t hear anything myself. EDIT: Wexford v Limerick, Clare V Galway

Draw will take place on the 12th with the winners of phase 2 playing the winners of phase 1 (Laois and Cork) on the 18th.

Tullamore has a 20k capacity - are you a little confused NCC? Need a little help?

Offaly must be the most frustrating team in the country to watch. They had a load of possession and shot and really should have made a good match of it but through bad shooting, bad decision making and fumbling balls they managed to get hammered.

Cork were no great shakes today. They’d want to pick their game up if they expect to get to even a semi final this year. None of the 4 teams in Round 2 of the qualifiers would be shaking in their boots after that performance. Granted they were without Gardiner and Ben went off in the first half but some of the Cork lads were passengers. Fraggie, Timmy, Tadhg g Murphy, Curran would all fall into this category.
Jerry was ok but had about 4 bad wides. Callinan hit a bit of ball. Kenny was fantastic in the second half. Aisake was dangerous throughout. Niall Mac hit some smart ball when he came on. Shane O’Neill was his usual excellent self.

The Offaly half forward line claimed a load of ball and at times look like they would be the winning of the game. In the second half there were multiple occasions where Brady of Bergin would catch the ball and run towards goal and then Offaly would manage to fluff the opportunity by making a bad decision or fumbling the ball.
After 45 minuetes Cork were a point up and it could have been argued that they were lucky to be and then Horgan got the goal and Offaly went on a spree of missed chances. 4 points in a second half of championship hurling is not good enough.

Brian Carroll was poor unfortunately. I’m gutted for him because I knew him quite well when we were in Kierans and any time he plays I’m always rooting for him but he wasn’t at the races today. There was a bit in the first half when he had a shot and the umpire waved it wide and he ran after the umpire. Wide or not, Cork took a quite puck out to Carroll man and he didn’t even try chase him back. If I was coaching a team and saw that and a score resulted I’d be close to taking the lad off. Shane Dooley was taken off before Brian was. I dunno why Dooley was taken off first. He had a couple of points in the first half.

Offaly regressed from last year. Last year they were agressive and fought and hounded Waterford and had they not conceded a couple of soft goals they would have had a chance. This year they had plenty of ball but their work ethic wasn’t nearly as good off the ball.

As regards the attendence, there was barely 10k there if even.
It was probably not to far away from 50/50 fan split. Offaly at home in a knock game to Cork and they can barely muster 5k. Disgraceful stuff.

Offaly fans, team and coaching staff would all need to take a hard look at themselves.

C103 said 15k.

RTE says the attendence for the KK Galway was 15,150. Now there was nowhere near as many today. The terrace on the far side wasn’t even nearly full, maybe just over half full and the stand wasn’t full either.
10k max.

i expect a retraction

C103 said 15k - how many were at the scumball game tonight btw?

Surely they announced the attendance while you were there?

Surely the GAA, Bord Failte could market this better. Organise club games between Cork and Offaly teams earlier in the day with everyone heading to the game after and spending the night in Tullamore.

What do ye think?

Offaly were playing Wexford earlier on during the day though. Should have had a double header instead.

Terming it as the ‘GGA’ is in itself an opinion.
