@Cheasty can we get a definitive list of sporting events/achievements that in effect signalled 'the end of a process/era", after a long number of years of hard work and whereby the winning team effectively broke up/lost the manager/gave up seriously competing or started to phone it in immediately afterwards .
A few off the top of my head:
New Zealand 2015 RWC - Back to back World Cups - McCaw, Carter, Nonu etc all retired straight after.
AC Milan 2007 CL - an old team on the wane that got their redemption for 2005. Everyone kind of knew that was it for them after that.
Dublin Football 2019 AI - 5 in a row, history made, Jim Gavin resigned, Bernard Brogan retired, McCaffrey walked away. They may well have won again in 2020 but it wasnt the same at all.
Tipperary Munster Football Champions 2020 - lost half the team and fell off a cliff straight away afterwards.
Corofin All Ireland Club Championship 2020 - 3 in a row done, history made. Lost all hunger immediately afterwards. Never the same team again.
