Ole ole ole
This is neither here nor there to your point. There is no more blood from the stone with regards to MNCs and Irelandās tax take.
Michael Noonan did do some job all the same.
Thereās plenty more milk in that cow. Sheās actually heaving sheās so heavy with it.
Theyāre here in probably significant part due to the relatively benign taxation system for them, and moreso, the flexibility within it, and the open ears of the politicians. This is a huge win win both for them and for Ireland. It wonāt last forever, thereās absolutely no point in jeopardising the ecosystem.
At some point the yanks and the EU will pull the reins and weāll see what happens.
Itās actually just straightforward generally in Ireland. Good infrastructure for starting a business, talent can be attracted here, laws are transparent, employment rights arenāt as ridiculous as mainland Europeā¦
If we had charged them what we said we were going to charge them then the EU and US would not have started meddling. They started meddling when they realised how the Irish govt were bending over backwards to ensure they paid as little tax as possible. They legalised tax evasion for MNCs but jailed local folk for 5 years for mislabelling garlic to reduce their VAT liability.
Tim has a narrow view of mainland Europe
How so?
France and Germany are a joke for employment rights. Ireland strikes the right balance between the U.S. and Europe.
This is reality. Try and get rid of someone in Germany.
The bureaucracy in mainland Europe is off the charts. Itās also next to impossible to fire an employee
Iāve had to send faxes to Germany in recent times.
12 months leave mostly fully paid if they get a bad performance review and donāt feel like working with the German tax payer footing most of the bill.
It doesnāt happen with German companies because thereās a natural cultural sync.
France is worse.
Thereās a reason why they havenāt produced many tech companies of note.
Ireland is genuinely a good half way house, both legally and culturally.
Right, so thatās Germany and France which are dreadful places because lads like you canāt fire other folk on a whim.
Not too bad in Benelux, hence why they attract those jobs too.
Bit of a lesson for the morons who want Ireland to fuck big MNC out. The bigger countries prick around with them, we canāt.
Couldnāt agree more.
But thatās never been my point?
By prick about do you mean they charge a reasonable rate of tax on their profits?
lol Lux prob have the best employment laws in Europe for staff
Your āpointā is that they are purely in Ireland for tax.
What would a lad living in Manchester who buys a holiday home in Ireland know about their operations in Ireland?
