The Celtic Phoenix - A thread to list the economic miracles of Michael Noonan & Fine Gael

They pay what they are supposed to pay in Ireland under Irish tax laws. Not up to Ireland to police what other countries tax.

They pay tax on profits generated within this state

Really? and that amounts to 1% of total profits generated by the two subs in one year, and 0.005% in another year? Nobody in Ireland buying Apple products any more?
Please fuck off.

Michael doing a great job, facts are that any 13 BN liability would have to be picked up by the US taxpayer.

You don’t understand, the facility in Cork manufactures a certain amount of products for Europe, also China and other countries generate a percentage of the products.

Michael’s iPhone says designed in California and manufactured in China.

The tax implication for Ireland is only VAT collection.

Great job Kaiser :clap::clap::clap:

No, it’s an anti-trust issue, which is why the Iron Lady from Denmark has her teeth sunk into this.

If profits generated internationally were being allocated back to Apple headquarters, the EU would have no case. They are not though, they are being allocated to an entity that was set up specifically to avoid paying tax anywhere. That’s the basis of the whole case, and the EU will win it eventually imo.

Why do you think that this is Ireland’s problem?

Because they colluded with Apple to set up a tax avoidance strategy that (according to the EU) is illegal under EU anti-trust laws.

Oh I do understand how it all works, and very well may I add.

You’re wasting your time engaging with that simpleton.

They are using state aid/anti-trust as they have no jurisdiction under tax.

You have been put in your place a few times already today :joy:

It’s not Irelands problem , in so far as the EU are concerned it is a tax owed to Ireland. The problem arises in so far as other countries will claim there share of the cake. So a potential 13 billion windfall could be whittled down to little or nothing in real terms. Ergo FF and FG will fight in so far as long term it might act as a dissencentive to future FDI within Ireland.

It’s a bit like the auld aunt dying and leaving a few million to one member of the family. All of a sudden, relatives appear from nowhere and by the time everyone gets their cut and the lawyers are paid off, there’s fuck all to go around and all that’s left is a bad taste in the mouth.

Michael is playing with fire here, this Vestager cunt will nail his fat Limerick ass to the wall.

Ireland only has population of about 1% of the USA alone, why would you expect that we would contribute more than 1% of total tax from products sold here?

This will be appealed and the appeal will favour Ireland and business.

The issue isn’t products sold in Ireland, it’s products sold all over the EU, Middle East, India and Africa. All that revenue goes through the Irish subs.

Other EU countries claiming their share is the next step. although that will be a much tougher battle as under existing law the international revenue and profits are being booked correctly in Ireland. That won’t change realistically unless the US act.
