The Clare Roasters thread

Twasn’t even a bull at all I’m told #fakenews

:smiley: ja know what will calm this fella down, a load of lads sprinting after him roaring abuse and waving sticks at him. He’ll be sound as a pound after that.

That’s usually how I deal with Clare people.

A lad was nearly killed last year in Ennis Mart when a bull tore down the passageway. I always found drovers in that Mart were as thick as pigshit. You’d get a far better class of drover in Gort, Athenry or Loughrea Marts.

There was a lad killed at Clogher mart last year when a bull broke loose, the ring men there are usually fairly handy/mental.
We’ve a lady vet this past while, best of a lassie and game for any job- but she only has to arrive in the yard and the cattle get very unreasonable and unbiddable. And she hasn’t a clue what to do with the pole. Testing is a very taxing affair.

The lads in Ennis Mart were lazy good for nothing bastards. When you put the cattle in the shute to put on the labels they’d be standing there talking amongst themselves. Once you’d put the labels on yourself they’d open the gate and let the fly down anywhere. The cunts would hardly tell you what pen you had to put them in never mind drive them down themselves.

Since your man got minced farmers are only allowed walk on the overhead gantries, proper order.

Dammit but we’re in the dark ages. I don’t think there’s such a thing in the whole north of Ireland

It is with deep sadness and regret that the owners and staff of The Clare People announce that the newspaper has printed its last edition. Since June 2005 we have strived to deliver a quality product to the people of Clare every single Tuesday morning without fail. This we have done in the midst of severe economic and technological headwinds. However today’s edition of August 13, 2019 is our last.

Unfortunately our newspaper cannot continue to sustain the losses we have incurred in delivering a quality product to the people of Clare on a weekly basis in the face of consistently declining circulation and advertising revenues. As a consequence of the rapid impact of the internet and free online platforms, the marketplace for quality local newspapers has changed fundamentally.

This is a sad day for staff and all who have been part of The Clare People journey. We are immensely proud of the contribution of all our journalists, photographers, sales and marketing teams, admin and office staff have made to our county, our culture and our people for so long.

We would like to thank our loyal readers and all those who have supported us for the past fourteen years. We deeply appreciated that support.

That’s a pity, I would say their sport coverage had surpassed the Champion in recent times

Sad reality of print media these days. A pity as their sport was excellent

Molex is gone in Shannon, 500 jobs. that is an absolutely savage blow to the Midwest region, absolutely savage

On the plus side there’ll be a lot of old stagers coming out with big redundancy packages.

I’d say most of the older crew have cashed in their chips already. The last few multinationals to close in the area were only paying statutory, but Molex would be a bigger entity.

Did you make that…

I wouldn’t have the townie references

Id say they thought it was hilarious.

Very good. Poor auld Frankie Coote.

That’s very good @Raylan

I get a good few of those references from my time living in Ennis. Are there still two Enzo’s in Ennis?

Yeah one by the queens and one down on Parnell street.
