About the ā€œrape apologists defamationā€ legal issue, I donā€™t see any legal issues with that aspect of the old thread. You canā€™t have a defamation without identification and self-identification doesnā€™t count for the purposes of defamation. There was a famous Irish barrister back in the 19th century, he had a double-barrelled name which escapes me just at this moment. During one of his Court cases he wanted to attack a person who was watching in Court but was scared of the libel laws. The barrister stood up, says ā€œI once heard of a man, a villainous swine who was so reprehensible that he ā€¦ blah blah blah.ā€ He doesnā€™t name names but everyone watching knew who he was talking about. After 5 minutes of an attack on this ā€œhypotheticalā€ man, the guy being attacked, who is watching in Court, jumps up and tells the barrister to fuck off (ie. self-identification). ā€œSo you admit it!ā€ says the barrister, spinning around and pointing at this guy in the audience. That was not identification for the purposes of libel so the barrister with the double-barrelled name got away with it.

I think the only way you could defame a poster on TFK would be (a) doxxing or (b) revealing details of a posterā€™s personal life that would allow him to be identified (like a quasi-doxxing). Self-doxxing wouldnā€™t count.

Defamation against Paddy Jackson is obviously a completely different matter, but thereā€™s far far worse being said online about PJ than on TFK.

Yerman Paddy Jackson the rubby player. He was proven innocent of rape there during the week in a court of law.
Loadā€™s of fellas here were calling him a rapist during the trial. A few still belive he is one so it would be great if we could have a show of hands

The jury has delivered itā€™s verdict, and they did so quickly and decisively. Thatā€™s good enough for me, on this occasion at least.
Iā€™d say the 20 000 or so posts on the subject have revealed a fair bit about who believes what- not many changing their positions, which also reveals plenty!
Weā€™re left with the unholy sight of #campaigns and a short-winded declaration of war on whatever it is that defines patriarchy, entitlement, lad culture and whatever else it is that ails us. . But the species will continue to repopulate the planet regardless.
It shortened the winter if nothing else.
