The cold winds from the mountain

Are calling soft to me
The smell of scented heather
Brings bitter memories
The wild and lonely Eagle
Up in the summer sky
Flies high o’r Shanagolden
Where my young willie lies

I met him in the winter time when snow was on the ground
The Irish hills were peaceful and love was all around.
Scarcely twenty years old, a young man in his prime.
We were married, darling Willie by the eve of Christmas time.

Do you remember darling,
we walked the moonlit road
I held you in my arms then,
I’d never let you go.
Our hands they were entwined, my love,
Beneath the pale moonlight,
By the fields of Shanagolden on a lonely winter’s night.

Whatever happens Sunday I hope either De Banks or Limerick You’re a Lady come on the tannoy at full time like had been tradition at HQ pre-Covid.

It didn’t happen for the hurling semi finals this year but seems to have been rectified since with the Saw Doctors ringing out last Saturday night

They’ll have a cranberries song if it’s Limerick

Dreams will ring out come Sunday, and rightly so.

Cork could have Crystal Swing maybe

They will, which isn’t right in my opinion.

It’s time for you to grow up a wee bit

The smell from Patrick’s Bridge is wicked.
How does Fr. Murphy stick it?

I hope the victorious cork team have a man among them who will give us a rousing version of the boys of Kilmicheal

These things are important.

They mixed it up a bit for Dublin over the years though. The Auld Triangle definitely came on after Butsy’s last minute block in 2016, Molly Malone then came back in 2017.

You think too much about this shite

“Give Him A Ball And A Yard Of Grass” by The Sultans of Ping for Cork.

“Strachan” by The Hitchers for Limerick.

Peddlers cross seems to be the new lad you have constant pops off dont notice you picking at backinatracksuit as much any more. What’s that all about ?

I’m partial to the green and red of Mayo.

The West’s awake was the greatest post all ireland song though

Tommy Tiernan was waxing lyrical about ‘Up Mayo’ during the week. There were some amount of tears last week when ‘Green and red of Mayo’ came on - on both sides!
