The Cost of Living πŸ“ˆ

The old Irish fear of the immersion is a well founded one also, as are electric showers. Daylight robbers.

A dishwasher and washing machine cost about 80c total for a full cycle. What would you save doing this? Charging a phone must cost about 3c a charge I’d say would it not?

Probably 60c on dishwasher and washing machine. Based on ev charge rate or 10c/kwh and day rate of 36c/kwh. Once a night rather than day over the year say 300 cycle could be €180 per year

Makes sense but the dryer prob goes on first thing in morning then at an expensive rate which might undo it all

ah shtop, who the fuck has time to monitor this shite?

This is a pure money making racket designed to catch out Joe Public when he falls outside the guardrails of his smart plan.

Yup better paying it to have the dryer on when awake than being burnt to a crisp.

Awful yokes, my advice is font use it but its never that simple

I bought these and they arrived today. Have them set up on timers like a lamp in the living room to turn on 20 mins before sunset, turn off at midnight and control with the phone.

Using the others in places where its a pain in the hole to switch off the mains and stop standby appliances on. They monitor usage and breakdown cost.

Ill let you know how i get on and probably buy more

It’s the other way around for the lamps. Get a smart plug or a smart bulb, set to come on a fixed time before sunset and to go off at a fixed time and you need never flick the switch again.

Just as easy for a dishwasher or other appliance. Set the smart plug to turn on at 2am.

Given the electrical goods supplier we’ve used, I expect to be blown up before the first bill anyway.
Some cnut from tipp it seems.

With Energia too and have a smart meter. Happened to compare prices yesterday too on Bonkers and yes, getting fleeced! Will ring them today and look for a deal. Our contract with them is until August.

It only costs €50 to break the contract, worth keeping in mind if you can get a much better deal elsewhere
