Where’s that on the menu or you just showing off?

Electricity and gas supplier Panda Power has been forced to cease operations and exit the Irish market in the face of surging wholesale energy prices.

The company, which has more than 50,000 electricity customers, approximately 3 per cent of the market, and around 10,000 gas customers, is the largest Irish-based energy supplier to collapse as a result of the current crisis.

Panda is now the fourth supplier to exit the Irish market in the space of a few months following Iberdrola, Glowpower and Bright Energy.

How the fuck do they go bust? It’s not like they are paying for manning the infrastructure or have drilling costs? They’re plain resellers aren’t they- buy wholesale, add margin and resell on. If that’s the case, how the fuck do they mess it up?

Edit: had a quick think. They’re on contracts on the sale side while bearing brunt of wholesale increase costs.

Answered my own question. You’re welcome?!

No wonder their recycling/waste costs have jumped

Sure the electricity companies don’t honour any contracts to their customers? They put up the price whenever they want. I’d imagine at the smaller scale they are finding it difficult to compete with the big boys. Electric Ireland, Energia, Bord Gais can all offset their “increased costs” by the fact that they are the ones selling to themselves at the “increased costs”

It would seem it’s a black and white issue for Panda
