80% grant for people who don’t qualify for the warmer home schemes too & a new low cost loan scheme to facilitate this

i think the issue is that demand outstrips supply so they are creating apprentices to catch up to do this

I just don’t want you getting too caught up in winning the battle and forgetting the war. Now is not the time to ease up.

Listening to the radio there and they mentioned how Michael O’Leary will be getting 600 notes off his lecky bill. Someone texted in giving out that the budget meant they were only getting 11c more than someone on social welfare. In fairness to them the look over there tactic works a treat.

That’s actually an internal Sinn Fein message that he erroneous put into the public domain.

As predicted

Disability allowances fell well short of what was hoped for.
They’ve given business, especially small businesses, minor allowance for energy but then heaped a whole pile of increases on them and with VAT increases on the way in the new year.
Retro fits are pitiful, this should be a major focus.
Students will get drunk for one semester but it’s back to normal next semester.
Landlords given no incentives at all to stay in the market…

They’ve thrown money agin the wall and that’s the height of it.

There was an early uninformed opinion out there calling it a great budget so unfortunately the idiocy of thr measure needed to be pointed out.

Equally a lad paying 20k a year tax got the same tax saving as a lad paying 200k a year tax.

If lads hold their nerve long enough with materials already building up in merchants yards the prices will fall again. Mark my words on that

On hols in :es: with a vast majority of beyond rich pensioners when I and Mrs Bod crunched the numbers and informed them them they’d be €1100 richer before Christmas they started cackling wasn’t long before they went what about our kids with childcare, trying to buy a house, struggling away etc, we’ll be the first generation poorer than our parents in this country in a long time.

That’s the long and short of it… Temporary relief but it’s essentially a 5 month budget.

Not us but our kids Id say

I’d prefer if it wasn’t for all but someone explained to me that it is far easier to administer it that way. There are going to be issues with it because it’s a household subsidy and households cross many incomes. You’d have all sorts of issues trying to tab back incomes to utilities accounts.

Of course we can all look at Michael O’Leary getting it along with other Raglan Road residences and say it’s ridiculous but it is a drop in the ocean. What’s more ridiculous is suggesting that Michael O’Leary is laughing away because he got 600 quid from the Government.

House prices are slowing due to increased supply. Ireland had one of the highest house dwellings initiated in 2021.

Why would a government do nothing when they lose support over issues? It’s real LCD appealing statement by opp politicians to pull at the heartstrings and below TFK.

It’s a waste of resources. Saying it’s too difficult to administer is just laziness. Joan Burton was asking oarents 19 years ago not to collect the children’s allowance. Should be possible to have some sort of centralised database. Set up costs might be significant but at least it’s not wasted.

No one is saying O’Leary is laughing, they’re just saying there are more deserving recipients.

The fact that DEASP and Revenue systems are not fully integrated is main reason that we can’t do more granular payments. There is project to resolve this but it went on the back burner due to covid schemes that needed to be prioritised.

I said this with the original credit but again, how do you best do it?

You will have some households of 4 incomes of renters, would they miss out because they are over an income threshold? How do you administer it with so many unregistered tenancies?

That’s just one example. It can’t simply come down to an income level for so many reasons. It also can’t come down to a property value or space because of all the issues we’ve seen with the PT.

I reckon whatever way they tried to spin it that you’d have people missing out and negative publicity.

Yeah all this should be in place but still a bit trickier with energy.

No child allowance in the uk. Throw in council tax, and children for the middle class are becoming prohibitively expensive

School fees seems to be the big killer in UK for people who are or aspire to be middle class ?

Is state system that bad ?
