That’s what the Finnish did with a lot of their social welfare recipients… It was cheaper to rent them an apartment in the Costa for 3/4 months than to provide heat/lecky and what not in Finland.

No. They left because their was nothing here for them.

Electricity contract is nearly up, so was looking around at rates of what I’ll be on and what others are offering.

The day/night rates I was on are going from .15c and .07c per KW to .46c and .22c. Nearly a 200% increase over 12 months. Thats fucking mental. VAT has been changed to 9% instead of the previous 13% which is something, and the PSO levy gone also. But the overall costs, including standing charges etc will be essentially double what they were a year ago. Yet the cost to the supplier will have gone down in that interim period.

Anyone on a nightsaver meter make sure you keep it too. The smart meter rates really fuck up any savings you will make on the nightsaver. They offer a good discount between 2 and 5am, but overall, it will increase the cost due to the main unit costs increasing. So until the either give better rates at night on the smart meter or start increasing the nightsaver rates, its not worth changing over.

There doesnt seem to be any inclination of the suppliers to reduce overall rates and they all seem to be waiting for one of them to blink first and start offering better rates again. Gouging cunts.

This went well

Great to see Darragh giving 100% redress to 100000 appartment owners

No issue with 100% redress to apartment owners so long as it isn’t their second home.

Same with MICA except it should have been for standard 3-4 beds off the same plans instead of rebuilding McMansions.

Agreed

Funny how the few thousand mica owners make a lot more noise than the 100000 urban appartment owners yet want 10 times the amount

Hang on, its estimated at 2.5bn to fix the apartments, yet thats going through with no problems at all. Yet the €2.2bn for the mica homes caused so much problems and rows and turning people against each other.

Both should be allowed. The mica ones should have been pursued under the suppliers insurance and failing that, the government.

I’d also have an issue that the government procedures for the fire and dac certs makes a lot of provisions at pre planning but the post construction inspection is still inadequate. Some lessons learned, but still not infallible
