Sadly, my father has begun his final lap. He’s in the CF unit of UHL,from where he will not emerge.

He’s 85, had a good innings but is quietly slipping away. Could be a few days, could be a little longer.

Got to see him yesterday although had to withhold from my mother the news that my Mrs has tested positive for Covid and that although I’m perfectly well and triple vaxxed, I should technically be isolating as a close contact,

What was I to do? Not go see him? I had to tell her yesterday evening and she’s now terrified. That’s what this government has done to elderly people - terrify them needlessly. She has enough on her plate as it is. He was tested himself on Friday anyway and is negative.

So begins what will be a tough week,

Sorry to hear that. We’re in the same boat with my grandfather in a nursing home. Haven’t seen my mother since Christmas day as she’s avoiding any contacts. The home confirmed their is already an outbreak so I don’t see the point in stopping people triple jabbed visiting
