I much prefer my kids the older they get. Young kids are fairly needy. And annoying.

Whey hey, given recent events, ill withold judgement on that conundrum for the moment

Ours are in their 40’s - they’re toppers. Hang in and despite hiccups you’ll come to appreciate them. Grandchildren are where it’s at ……

Ideally lads should rear a couple of families to really nail it (preferably both their own). I was a great dad first time round. Right now I’m outstanding.

Likewise, and happily enough my kids in Derry never called my smallie in Cork anything other than brother,
Ffs they near bypass me to drag him up north the feckers
He never uttered half bro etc, always my big bro and big sis in Derry etc.
As it should be.
PS I was great at time’s first time around,
Not always
We all love each other though ( thankfully )

We’ve been accepted into St Brigid’s BNS in Killester but are well down the waiting list for the Killester Clontarf Raheny Educate Together.

There’s only one class of 26 for the latter and they received 179 applications. My life partner was very much set on it but we’re down around 100 on the list despite being inside the catchment area and very close to the school site. Trouble is the size of the catchment area along with a definite uplift in people targeting Educate Together ahead of schools with a church patronage. So I think we’re too far back to get a belated offer, even if people at the Clontarf or Raheny ends of the catchment area ultimately decide to take places in schools closer to them.

I’m comfortable with our lad going to the established school but I would have liked him to be in a mixed rather than boys only school. And I’m not mad on the Kaffllik Church ethos but I can get over it. We might have to ask AodhĆ”n and his right hand man to see if they can wangle a second junior infants class in the Educate Together (cc @Juhniallio).

The first Holy Communion will be epic there I’d say. Over and back to the church across the road a few times daily.

Get onto him. He’s big on education and education access. Magicking up a new class might be a stretch but He’s worth a go. Have you thought of scoil NeasĆ in? Alumni of that place are stellar.

Is that the Oirish school up in Harmonstown direction? We didn’t apply for it. TG4’s GGA coverage has turned me against the native tongue.

Well at least you’ve secured him a place in heaven.
