If you could put van nistelrooy in van bastens era and vice versa they would be suited to their era. Van basten was ahead of his time.

Van Nistelrooy was a Gary Lineker who could score a header.

He is finished a couple of years now think he spent his last couple of season with his beloved feyenoord

Van Persie was a superb player, an all rounder.

Van Nistelrooy was as good of a penalty box striker as anyone but that was pretty much his game.

Van Nistelrooy could dribble though. Iā€™m sure he definitely scored a good few goals where he ran past a load of players, there was one against Fulham which sticks out I think?

Raul of Real Madrid was another player who for some reason didnā€™t fit into modern systems, Spain had to get rid of him before they started winning.

Iā€™d agree, but you cant dismiss the art of poaching either. His ability to get in position and the runs he made were pure instinctual ā€” thereā€™s an art in itself to it.

Something he said had a big impact on how I played centre forward. He said he made the same run across the goal 40 or 50 times in a match. You know the one, across the defender towards the front post. He said the ball only had to be right once, heā€™d be there.

They had a team of Galacticos. His league record isnā€™t that great given the sort of teams Real Madrid had assembled and internationally it never happened for him at a big tournament. He was a very good player but I wouldnā€™t have him in the real top echelon.

Very selfish, RVN too. That used to be a desired trait in a number 9 but it wasnā€™t by the time both finished up.

RVP didnā€™t do a whole pile for Holland in major tournaments. That game against Spain clouds a lot of opinions. Robben was better in that game and a one man team in the knockout stages
