Have it something awful for the past 6 weeks or so, kinda on and off. This weekend just gone was fairly bad. Couldn’t put down the days at all. Every minute felt like an hour. Couldn’t be a ease no matter what I did. November is a prick of a month for it.
Back at work today though and feel ok. Keep busy Joe. Get as much exercise as you are able. Watch a film or two that you know you’ll enjoy. Anything that’ll keep your mind someway busy.
The winter hit me woefully bad a good few years ago out of nowhere. It still causes anxiety in the run up to the clocks changing at the end of October but I battle on through and I am beginning to really like the winter again these days.
You can have mine if you really stuck, I’m thinking of going on the dole for a few months. Get my due reward from the government. Looking for a career change next year.
Go back living in your parents gaff, stay a couple of nights in a garda station and ask for a free house aswell. 12 months on the scratcher and your new house and you’ll be set up. Tell some local authority you’re a tinker also, might get a bit of land thrown in. You can then go back working for a competitor of pp, boyles or some other hellhole of a company. Job is oxo.
I agree 100%. Bit of depressing music always cheers me up. Good to know you’re not the most/only miserable person on the planet. I’d also recommend reading someone like Primo Levi for a bit of perspective. Life can feel like shit but really suffering is all subjective. Just keep challenging yourself and keep busy. In your case @joeplayer don’t be worrying about what comes next just get the PhD done and fuck everything else for the time being.
