I see WW is as funny as ever.
Yes GGA supporters are fierce dullards in that sense
Waterford Whispers stopped being funny about 8 years ago.
I’m in that place himself.
You’d want to give a fella an awful beating to get 5 years in jail on your first offence
DJ might have got away with it if he got a home jury and pleaded not guilty; maybe Nicky Brennan could have given him a character reference
A desk jockey would weigh it up and do it all again if the risk/reward was right. Desk jockeys should also know better. I don’t know was DJ really a desk jockey though.
Not really a first offence though , is it?
It’s a series of tacky frauds that left devastation in their wake. With the moolah he stole he maged to play golf in Augusta on more than one occasion as symptomatic of a man living a jet-set lifestyle on someone else’s money
How did he manage to persuade AIB to write down a 9.5 mill debt and consider it squared when he handed over 60k?
The banks won’t throw good money after bad if the debtor hasn’t got a pot to piss in. Plus they had probably already written it off in their accounts by that time so it would have been all the one to them.
Ah I’m not defending him was scandalous behaviour but it was a first offence in the eyes of the law…
The debt write off is a completely separate issue and there are thousands of people who got similar maybe not at that level but there is a legal process for people with too much debt to follow that essentially forces banks to write off the money…id say AIB knew he would get that outcome and just short circuited it
The classic coverup to preserve reputations that blows up in their faces.
And there more victims of his deception because they kept quiet.
The Carlow IT lads will have their chests out tonight seeing DJ in their puffer jacket on the 6.1 news.
Mayo and Cork still won’t have won an All-Ireland by the time he’s out.
Or Kilkenny
That’s the real sad part of this sorry tale.
Wonder who was advising/ helping/in cahoots with him
In all fairness he surely didn’t think he’d get away with it?
What a waste of a hurling legend
He was an icon. Probably the biggest reason every young lad in the country wanted a Cooper helmet with a Mycro guard at a certain point. He’s not the first sporting hero to disgrace himself in later life and there are worse things he could have done. But the whole affair is so sordid and pathetic it’s hard to see how he’ll ever redeem himself in any way.
Pity they wouldn’t bang up the fuckin weasels in the financial sector that fucked over generations of Irish
pp to come
@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy did you see the muldoon driving DJ to court the other day? That’s what you’re dealing with
I’m not sure about that bando everyone in Ireland will know someone affected by cancer so most people are absolutely disgusted by this. The fact that his first thought when told by Thomas Butler that his wife had cancer was to see if he could fleece them tells me he is a bad bad cunt.
The only pass I’d give him is for fleecing DOB of over 100k which is great.
