Lennon has said he was thinking of sending Irvine out on loan but that performance may have changed his mind.
No doubt most of the crowd made their way from the Aviva down to the RDS after the match for a spot of purse snatching.
All in all a great Display by Liverpool against a team that has played a number of competitive games, including Champions league ties.
Sturridge hasnt played in months, great to have him back.
I can see us easily finishing top 4 this season with or without Luis.
A bit of a non event apart from a few minutes at the start of the 2nd half where it got a bit lively, Liverpool had most of the possession and should probably have scored a few but same old story in front of goal. Coutinho, Sturidge and Ibe were decent for Liverpool, Forester was very good for Celtic and Balde was a handful.
Celtic fans were fantastic entertainment throughout

Would you ever fuck off.
did Celtic tell the SFL " sorry , we couldnt be bothered playing a league match this weekend as we’re playing a mid season friendly game against an English team to raise money for an ailing football association and ticketmster?"
very sad to see the fans taking it seriously and fellas like Rudi who has a reasonable knowledge of football ( altho you can tell by his posts he has never played the game or attended a live fixture) buying into the thing by trying to give reasonable assesments on the performance of players in a game both sides didnt give an absolute fuck about…
I can understand why Celtic needed the game, its important to at least give their players regular experience of being on pitch against at least teams of a premier league standard if they want to remain sharp for the champions league.
i fully expect them to come thru against Karagandy so definitly it would be an idea for them to just simply not show up for some meaningless scottish league games between now and novemeber and instead organise friendly games against european clubs like Porto, Benfica, CSKA Moscow to keep the players fresh, forefiting 3 points is meaningless also as they will have it won by Christmas.
What caught Celtic last year against Juve was the absence of a competitive fixture form the Spartak game in december to Juve in feburary and you could see how complacent and off the pace the players were.
The players simply cannot be expected to give 100% every week against teams of hacking journeymen like Hibs, Hearts and Motherwell, even playin at 50% will get them 3 points and its ridiculous to criticize them for doing otherwise… friendly games are the only place where they can get any form of competitive action
But mickee321, Celtic didn’t include Mulgrew, Ambrose, van Dijk, Ledley, Brown, Commons, Forrest, Boerrigter or Samaras today. It was effectively a reserve/youth team that overcame a Liverpool first team. Not sure what benefit our first choice starters would have derived from playing the 7th best team in England. Fair enough organise friendlies, but they should be against Champions League standard opposition. Use run out for the kids though.
what ever small benifit they would have gained it is surely 100 times more than playing the 2nd best or heaven forbid 7th best team in scotland week on week, i agree 100% on the friendlies its the only way the players can possibly remain sharp
Caley Thistle or Motherwell would destroy Liverpool. Hibs might find them harder to break down.

You having a bad day Piles?
Grand now. A couple of hours sleep, the rashers on the pan and a day of hurling to look forward to.
Sure where would ya get it.
Everywhere I suppose, but still.
I think I will look back on yesterday’s game as one of the seminal moments in Irish history when a group of Irish warriors repelled a British attack with all their might and came out of the battle as victors. After the way the governing class of Ireland have shamed the country for the majority of the last century, that will restore some pride to Pearse, Brugha and co.
You need to get out more, pal. Have you given up the jogging? As a British born person of Italian descent, why do you care about Ireland and Scottish teams with Irish roots?
Not British - just Italian.
Are you not from Armagh? But the question still stands, why would an Italian care about Ireland, Tyrone footballers and a Scottish football club with Irish roots?

Bobby Sands was a British MP.
