The Electric Vehicle Thread

Have a look at niger delta and the corruption in nigeria from oil. Top picture soon loses focus when you go like for like.

There are no clean hands in any side when it comes to resources.

Keep digging.

No bother.

I’ve @flattythehurdler organised for a fact finding mission to Nigeria.

Right @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy @Gman @cluaindiuic I’m strongly considering ditching one of our Diesel guzzlers and making the switch. My eye has been turned by some i4’s or i5’s that look to be ex demo models available at a ridiculous discount compared to new versions of those cars - almost a 30k discount for something with less than 5k km’s for an early 2025 model. Are there still grants available for electric cars, or are they just for new cars? And whats available now for getting home charging systems installed or where should I be looking?

Hi @Mac - great to hear from you

the grants are for new cars only
the charger grant is only €300 & you apply for it before the installation

if its only 5km on it its basically new, my car has 45k on it and the battery health is 92%

that discount sounds amazing, message me a link please - tysm

I’m close mate, very close. A few questions

Who do you recommend or advise avoiding for home charger installation? Does it differ depending on model?

If the car was parked up for a week in an airport car park, would it generally hold its charge for that time or would it ever discharge? Or how long before it might discharge?

Googling it- its a small loss per day- 2%

I assume there are lots of chargers at the airport

If your car doesnt have a timer- get a charger where you can charge at night. I always assumed they are just like plugs so never paid attention but it seems you can get quicker chargers

Wont go wrong with a zappi. Timer set up on it, but your car would also have a schedule anyway. Zappi links up with solar so that you can have eco settings where it will only charge off solar power, or else at night time to suit rates. Electrician will install, doubt it makes much odds who does it, plenty doing them

Car wont lose charge parked up for a week. There are also lots of chargers in T2 short term, which is handy for getting a parking spot beside the door, and also to come back to a fully charged car.

I have an Ohme charger and can’t fault it

A right job

Thanks. Taking up a charger spot for a week is hardly the done thing is it?

Another vote for Ohme here, I have the slimline ePod version.

I wouldnt have thought so, but airport maybe somewhat different. I’ve only ever used it for a day trip stay, but an airport car park generally would mean you’re not there for just an hour or 2. Most of the cars there when i parked have still been there when I get back, but usually only half of the 12 spots or so are taken anyway.

What’s the etiquette with heading off for a week and leaving the car taking up a charging spot?

If you have an electric car you’re entitled to it.

yeah I dont know, I wouldnt do it myself. A day is enough for short term.

Our regular electrician is recommending a Zappi as the best one to work with our solar panels. Its happening @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy
