The family of former Taoiseach Charles Haughey have spoken of their anxiety at the upcoming RTE dram

WHAT WILL WE THINK 9,30 RTE 1

That is a question more suited to 10.30 - 10.45pm, Joe.

CHARLIE WILL WIN

Most effective Irish politician of the last 50 years. The performance of each of his portfolios (including the red haired stepchild of Health) all performed to a level that hasn’t been matched since. We wouldn’t have paid €500 million to unsecured bondholders on December 23rd gone if he was in charge.

Not if we could have somehow paid it to him instead.

We haven’t had a leader of the country half as good since Haughey.

I think resident blueshirt @The Selfish Giant would have plenty of arguments ala FitzGerald & Bruton etc.

The Fianna Fail mugs are out in force tonight.

John Bruton

I wonder what yer man Gillen will be like doing Charlie. He has been very good in non-Irish roles but was shit as John Boy in Love/Hate

I had a pint with a fella who is in this yesterday and he reckons Gillen is very good in it. Says it’s not quite a historical portrayal but more a dramatisation.

Fuck the family of Charlie Haughey, Joe. They still live in their giant estate and enjoy their ill-gotten gains.

Very good representation of the characters so far in look, voice & mannerisms

Mind you gillen has been listening to scrap saturday

Nidge sounds like Nidge

Quite fast paced, but relatively decent so far. Haughey was always going to be hard nail down, but with regards to Gillen, he’s done well so far. Keane has a rather prominent role in this imagining.

Lively so far. Don’t think three episodes can do Haughey justice we’ve skipped a load of the good stuff already, you can have Boland

Very much so.

I really want to hear him roll out a good “Marrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrra”.

Script seems a bit clumsy with popularly known references crow barred into it.

Arise and follow Charlie.
