Just pragmatism from FG. She was going to struggle to get elected in a constituency like DL-R after the controversy.
They should have dumped her the minute the story got out. It looks like opportunism now. Calling an internal review was pathetic, exonerating her only to later ditch her is weak leadership from the sock maestro.

Whatever. That won’t make much difference to the average voter in DL-R or in the country. I suppose if you were always anti-Leo it’s another thing to get into a social-media rant about but I don’t see it swinging many or any votes in reality. The key now is that she’s off the ticket which gives FG a better chance of 2 seats there

I think she was going to struggle anyway. She was a quota candidate the last time and they were surprised she got in. Barry Ward probably has a better shot than her, he has the Blackrock area while MMOC would have the Dalkey/Killiney end of the Borough.
MMOC and MB must have been two of the worst TDs in the Dáil and both from DLR. Doesn’t say much really.
Sadly MMOC has too much support amongst the coffee morning crew.
I’ve heard some fairly average stories about her behaviour when turning up at sports club lunches and what not. As you say, she could be vulnerable.
From an article online it suggests that FG internal polling showed Ossian Smyth (green party) comfortable getting in, that there is a quota there for FF (prob Mary Hanafin) and then the last 2 seats will be 2 from 2 x FG and Richard Boyd-Barrett. That Green one seems a bit over optimistic I’d say 1 FG, 1 FF, and then an absolute shit-fight for the last 2.
there’s been times when shes had to be reminded the names of the people she was supposed to be greeting.
if there is a fialer to get in then cormac devlin IMHO has a better chance than hanafin, shes not well got at all, especially after her getting kate feeney shafted twice. hanafin will poll well in blackrock but i dont see where the other votes are coming from. devlin really gets around the place and a good few ould ones on my road speak very highly of him and theyre mostly blueshirts.
smyth will walk it. a good man but with a ridiculously limp handshake.
