The Fine Gael - A Sovereign Nation Once Again

A billion, runt? Where you getting that figure?

the game is up for the blue shirts

This is the electorates fault as much as anyones. For generations we’ve voted in buffoons and let them do as they pleased. Until we do away with the current system of governance we are just going to repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat…

I’m not sure

Setup cost of the structure and IT systems in Irish Water - €180m
The three regional contractors will install between 125,000 and 375,000 meters each over a three-year period. Each meter costs €500 to install, meaning contracts are worth at least €62m each. The total cost of the metering contract is €539m, excluding VAT.

So maybe I was a bit off with a billion, but it’s not that far off it.

the exact figures are not that important, the main point of your argument is what the focus should be on.

This is some cock up for the current government. They were in a shit position taking over when they did, but had done a reasonable enough job given the circumstances. This blows them open completely. Its hard to think that trying to put a simple charge on a widely used service, and one that most other countries charge for made them look like such incompetent fools and will ultimately cost them power in the long run.

I also wonder what the status will be of the employees they hired to take meter readings etc. They were already overstaffed based on having to take on all the ex-county council staff.

nonsense, they followed the policies agreed by FF & the Troika

Agreed. They only looked good because it was the Trioka pulling the strings. The minute they left town the Government have stumbled from one crisis to another and shown themselves up as the complete gombeens that they are.

reasonable, as in they didnt make a complete fuck up of things given they had very little say in anything they did.

Your need in taking pot shots at me means you are ignoring what is actually being said mate.

everyday you come on here posting your right wing bile, it would be amiss of me not to pull you up on your lies and half truths

@The Selfish Giant - you are unable to post on this thread in an impartial fashion so I’d ask that you please step away from the thread

If you have a flat charge per house, how would this address the conservation of water issue though?

You fucking dopey cunt.

But isn’t that what we have now and we’re a billion worse off.

Why do we need to conserve water again?

Less of the petty name calling you prick.

I’ll break it down for him.

Conservation in the home will reduce national water usage by around 10%
Fixing the leaking pipes will reduce water usage by 40%

Indeed. But that’s why the meters were introduced initially. Incredible climb down from the government but the initial meter plan was the correct plan with water conservation in mind.

So you’re saying we should ask people to deprive themselves of water rather than have the authorities fix the dodgy water pipes? You’re an awful dirty cunt.

I’m not arguing any of that. Metering is necessary if you want people to conserve water ie use less, pay less. That is the only point I am talking about.

really? why do we need to conserve a vital finite resource? is that the question?
