The Franco Sensi AS Roma 2013/14 Season Thread

Apparently those yanks are planning to record a new anthem which has brought this statement along from Antonello. Why donā€™t they start focusing on the football pitch and not messing with our image which is perfect. They are destroying Roma, they have given us a shitty new crest, they have gone away from one of the best kit manufacturers in the world in Kappa to some shitty big American brand in Nike and now they are stabbing a lifelong Roma fan in Antonello in the back and in doing so losing us two of the greatest songs in football.

Welcome Medhi.

The Strootman link is really gaining momentum, it now looks more likely that Nainggolan wilk go to Inter. Iā€™m ok about this, I donā€™t see anything special about Nainggolan. Strootman didnā€™t really impress me at the European U-21s and the fee mentioned seems extortionate to me (ā‚¬15-20m). I also think we need more of a playmaker in midfield while Strootman, from what I have seen, is a robust enforcer.

In other news Gervinho has been linked with an ā‚¬8m move. I donā€™t think he is a bad player, he has just been unlucky at Arsenal. He starred under Garcia at Lille so I think he is decent value at that price.

The Gilardino-Borriello swap is off as both sides thought they should have been getting the cash in addition to the player. Wallace is being linked with a loan move from Chelsea while the favourite to become our new no.1 is Morgan De Sanctis - Iā€™ve never rated him.

I see Pjanic got a bit of treatment earlier. Whatā€™s your thoughts on the various fan protests Rudi?

Iā€™d get rid of Pjanic if a decent offer comes in, clearly a very talented player but nobody seems to know his best position or how to deploy him and he seems mentally weak.

Roma only willing to pay ā‚¬11m for Strootman apparently though he has agreed personal terms.

Utd interested in Lamela again, talks of swapping Nani plus cash. Iā€™d be happy with that though I doubt Roma fans would.

Thereā€™s no way Roma would sell Lamela for anything under ā‚¬50m.

An extraordinary scandal is erupting after Roma threatened legal action against a radio station that aired private conversations between their directors.

The Giallorossi released a statement this evening warning they would take legal action against anyone who committed the ā€œcrimeā€ of illegally intercepting a phone call.

The conversation between director of sport Walter Sabatini and general manager Claudio Fenucci was apparently recorded because one of the two men forgot to hang up the phone after they had spoken to the asromaradio.it staff for an interview.

Because of that, the radio station released its own statement pointing out ā€œif a director leaves his phone on after a conversation and we hear him when heā€™s talking to someone else, it is certainly not our fault.ā€ They have in turn threatened legal action against Roma.

In amongst all this, the content of the conversation has fallen by the wayside, but will be of great interest to Giallorossi supporters.

Sabatini explained to Fenucci that he had clearly ordered Pablo Daniel Osvaldo to begin pre-season training with the squad on Tuesday with everyone else rather than on Friday.

He noted this was because he wanted Osvaldo to receive the insults that other players had when arriving at the training camp this morning.

Sabatini hoped that the abuse would push Osvaldo towards accepting a Ā£17m move to Southampton, which he had otherwise turned down.

The Italy international is currently on vacation in Chicago.

In the conversation, the directors also let slip that Barcelona target Marquinhos would be sold immediately if the offer reached ā‚¬25m plus commission for his agents.

Transfer season is beginning to get a bit hectic in Rome. We look to have beaten Spurs for Tin Jedvaj and will pay ā‚¬5m for him. We have also supposedly reached an agreement with PSV for Strootman. With Jedvaj and Benatia arriving we will have 6 centre backs on the books, I think it looks certain that we will sell Marcos to either PSG or Barca which is disappointing as he is the best young centre back in the world. I also expect Burdisso to leave or Romagnoli to go out on loan.

In outwards news Pjanic and Osvaldo are still being linked with moves away.

Jedvaj is only 17. Looks a very composed young man, heā€™s got a real Italian style about the way he defend (thatā€™s what I got in this 3 minute video anyway). He wants to be assertive and intercept the danger before it happens. I hope he will be a star.

Will Di Rossi be capable of making the step up to the EPL and Chelsea Rudi?

Bellissimo

The old crest has been photoshopped onto that particular photo.

stunning jersey

stunning haircut too , ill be taking a trip to the barbers today

Roma have signed Polish u-21 international goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski for a fee of ā‚¬1.5m. Morgan De Sanctis is also expected to sign from Napoli.

Reports are also beginning to gather than Marcos will move to PSG for ā‚¬35m. If you are to believe the press it looks like De Rossi, Osvaldo, Pjanic and Marcos will all be leaving this summer.

I believe we have signed Maicon.

Welcome Maicon.

Maicon had a medical today. Think he could turn out to be a very astute signing. We should be sorted in defence now, I hope we do keep Marcos but Iā€™d say itā€™s now very likely he will move to PSG or Barcelona for a fee in excess of ā‚¬30m. I wouldnā€™t mind getting in a left back if Dodo is sent out on loan.

After a slow start we have been very active lately. Midfield is the area that needs the most addressing, big question marks over whether De Rossi and Pjanic will be sold, if so we will need at least three new players in there. Iā€™m hoping Daniele stays, both the fans and he got things off their chest this year and hopefully a new leaf will be turned over and he will reproduce some of the fantastic form he has shown in an Italian jersey over the past two years.

In attack Gervinho is the main player being linked at the minute, we have lost Lopez and it is expected that Osvaldo will leave. Borriello will probably stay as competition for Destro if we canā€™t find a buyer.
