The Franco Sensi AS Roma 2013/14 Season Thread

Maicon is the best full back in the world.

Maicon very nearly opens the scoring with a trademark surge beyond the opposition defence.

Lacking a focal point in attack tonight as we have got the ball in decent space on the wide position but have been unwilling to put crosses in. Could do with Marco B in there.

1-0 Parma.

Excellent header from Biabiny.

It was a decent opening from us but weā€™ve regressed steadily since the 20th minute. Our passing has been too laboured and telegraphed and Strootman has got exposed a little in this department, the full backs have got decent joy but as I mentioned earlier we are lacking a target in the box. Ljajic has been anonymous, Totti doesnā€™t have the movement around him to be effective in the central role and weā€™ve started to lose the midfield battle which we were dominating earlier.

Hope Garcia brings on Marco for Florenzi (if Borriello is amongst the subs).

Florenzi with a great finish after a nice pass from Pjanic.

1-1

Gervinho replaces Ljajic who had a very poor game.

Marquinho replaces Florenzi.

Totti!!!

Borriello for Totti.

Borriello flagged off as he was clean through on goal despite being at least a yard onside.

Gervinho wins a penalty.

Comprehensively slammed home from Strootman.

Cool as mustard that fella:clap:

Cool as mustard?

Not our best performance but we deserved the victory. A bit like the Livorno game where we werenā€™t looking too hot but we managed to get a breakthrough when it didnā€™t look likely. We look very solid at the back. Balzaretti probably had his best game for Roma tonight (he was decent). Benatia is really good, heā€™s very strong in the air and has a good presence, Iā€™ve always rated Castan as well. Maicon is a tour de force at right back. The midfield has a nice balance to it and Pjanic finally seems to be delivering some consistency.

Up top we didnā€™t look great tonight, think Totti would be much more suited to playing on the left side of the attack than through the middle. Ljajic was really poor, it was congested in the first half and he didnā€™t seem too interested, throwing himself to the ground and looking for soft frees on more than one occasion. Florenzi did ok but I donā€™t think he is suited to that role on the right although he will always be a goal threat. Gervinho did well in the latter part of the game after coming on. Borriello looked sharp.

Yes, cool as mustard (pronounced moo-starred)

Looks like the greatest player in the history of the game is about to extend his career by a further two seasons.

Grazie Capitano.
