The GAA Infrastructure Thread

Gaelic Grounds is far superior to semple.

Well impressed with the redeveloped Austin Stack park in tralee this week. The pitch was in excellent condition while the stand was a good size with decent views of the pitch. Access is very easy.

Only quibble would be that the support pillars on the stand are quite large.

Looking ahead to Cusack park in Sunday, a fine pitch in a shithole of a ground. Will see if there has been any improvements made

That you be The Kop end at Anfield you idiot.

Listen matet.its named after a brit war.splitting hairs arguing about which one

That’s the standard GGA redevelopment. It’s cheap but allows the locals and county boards to crow about having an unreal stadium even though they’re an amateur organisation.

so true, asked them how the state paying the players make them amateurs though and watch them run for the hills

The state built a stadium for your beloved Scumbag Rovers and also gives tax breaks to their journeyman players. Not to mention the absolute fortune it costs to police their couple of hundred scumbag supporters Its a bit rich you whingeing about gaa players getting a couple of hundred euro grant.

They’re hobbyists, the State should not be paying people for pursuing their hobby. Especially when the GGA can well afford to pay them themselves.

all incorrect

That’s me put back in me box so.

So the state should only subsidise wealthy professional sportspeople like Brian o Driscoll and Conor McGregor?

are you dim, people shouldnt be subsidized for their hobby

the gga get loads of grants even though its a sport with terrible participation rates. thats bad enough but paying the guys who arent good enough for real sports to play is shit too

We are back to where we started here. The state built a stadium for yourself and a few hundred of your scumbag mates to behave like animals in.

There are literally thousands of gaa clubs in the country that contribute more to Irish society than scumbag rovers ever will. Any grants these gaa clubs get are few and far between and richly deserved.

Finally calling the the absolute dross that is the Scuttertricity league “real sport” is just fucking delusional.

Give up the smack you idiot.

Are they self proclaimed amateurs? The GGA refuses to pay grants because they say they are an amateur organisation. They use this lie as a basis for an easy ride from the media and millions of resources poured in annually. The GGA can well afford to cover these grants, but won’t.

Rugby football and association football are international sports. The UFC is international. They bring money into the economy. It’s important we compete internationally so money flows in the form of events. Nobody outside of Ireland cares about the GGA. There is no competition for these guys. The vast majority of the players who went over to play with the stick insects in the AFL were total failures.

The only argument in favour of this stipend is that it will encourage young boys and girls to play sport. It’s a nonsense, they’ve been playing the sport for decades and a stipend is just for an old holiday for the lads. If they are to receive that, the GGA should wholly fund it. It’s farcical, another way for the Associtation to bleed money from the State. They should have been stripped of all State money when they sold out to Sky Sports.

Did you have to take your tongue out of the selfish giant’s hoop to type that or are you able to type and lick at the same time?

I type with my fingers not my tongue. Are you okay mentally?

you understand the difference between renting and owning?

your tongue is to fat for your mouth

Ye lads couldn’t be trusted to “own” a stadium. Sure ye would just sell it like ye did the last time! A nominal rent with no associated maintenance costs is still a seriously sweet deal for scumbag rovers though. The tax payer not so much.
