Iāve opened discussions with my sources who have sources in the upper echelons of Sky Sports. More news as (or if) I get it.
Surely Ger āI have to make a really long statement to prove how knowledgeable I am before I consider asking a question [even though Iām a presenter rather than a pundit]ā Gilroy will be under consideration for a role.
Also Joe āI have this unexplained need toā¦pauseā¦on several separate occasions each timeā¦I deliver a sentenceā Molloy.

Jesus that bollocks gilroy rots my shit with that long question thing.
Itās worth the experiment. Any time the GAA tries anything new there is always opposition, it has always been the way.
Totally understand the point about this affecting elderly people in particular, though. A right pain in the hole if you have a lifelong GAA fan who is maybe an elderly bachelor or widow, not in great health and he is missing out on seeing a championship game involving his own county because he doesnāt have Sky.
Right, Iāve fucking enough of this argument now. Thereās no guarantee your county will be on TV on any given Sunday. Chances are 9 times out of 10, your county wont be on tv, and if youāre this old fella who has constantly been referred to this week, then youāll have to make do with listening to it on the radio. On the 1 time in 10 your team is on telly, and it just so happens to be on SKY, youāll still be able to listen to it on the radio. The way some people are going on its like the old fella will die of a fucking broken heart because he doesnt get to see his team in telly. Fucking hell even in the UK every teams live games arent on TV. Get the fuck over it already.
Some Cork lad on Marian Finucane saying that the worst thing GAA did was not consulting the grassroots. There is a simple line of communication - clubs vote and notify the County Board who notify Croke Park maybe via Councils.
This clown wanted a full grassroots vote on 14 matches!! He was giving it all about the 1000s of volunteers out in Ireland this morning.

Weeshie Fogarty wouldnāt be happy to hear himself described as being from Cork.

Would you have an objection if a motion was brought to Congress requiring a certain number of matches to be free to air? I wouldnāt. While I think Skyās coverage can bring positives for the GAA, I think itās important that no more free to air matches are lost in the next deal. The only problem is that if a certain number of matches are ring fenced it then increases the likelihood of making it buyerās market.
As Iāve said, I think RTE do a reasonably good job with their live coverage but they are complacent in terms of their highlights, magazine shows, general promotion of GAA and in terms of their radio coverage. Theyāve become complacent because GAA rights have, up to now, been a buyerās market. Skyās entry will definitely change this. TV3, if you believe reports in the press this week, are in trouble. Perhaps the new UTV Ireland station will provide greater competition to RTE for free to air rights in 2017, thus meaning the GAA get a fair price for the rights for what are Irelandās premier sporting product (pukes).
its funny how the gga zealots on here are so desperate for outside validation that they are happy for one game a week on sky sports 3 sandwiched between the blue square premiership & curling from Finland to be shown at the sake of the elderly of rural Oireland
