Time it had a thread of its own now folks.
What theme tune will they go with? - Simple Minds at the start of the premiership era was epic!

Its gotta be Mundy. No one is more GAA than Mundy.
Or The Stunning. No one is more GAA than The Stunning.
Or The Sawdoctors. No one is…
The Script - Hall of Fame
“and the world’s gonna know your name”
Phil Coulter should be commissioned to compose a theme tune that symbolises and weaves together the innate Irishness of the GAA with our desire to share our great games with our neighbours in England and further afield.
I have thought about this and I think the ending of Sometimes by My Bloody Valentine would make an excellent theme tune. It has an uplifting, strive for the stars type sound.
Lads, come on… Something with radio appeal, that transcends generations and fits perfectly with clips of both footballer and Hurlers soloing around the pitch and fans with tinfoil packed sandwiches on the terrace. Something that captures the ancient warrior-esque nature of the game and yet, its new corporate soul. U2 will certainly be in the running.
And the craic outside Supervalu while waiting for the bus
If Sky went for 80s anthem Alive and Kicking by Scotch band Simple Minds, I would propose The Whole of the Moon by Scotch/Irish band The Waterboys.
The Script Song I referenced above is made for this - even references all the occupations of the amateur players - even astronauts now
It is radio friendly and Irish and there is a version with William to appeal to the younger generation
Yeah, you can be the greatest
You can be the best
You can be the King Kong banging on your chest
You can beat the world
You can beat the war
You can talk to God, go banging on his door
You can throw your hands up
You can beat the clock (yeah)
You can move a mountain
You can break rocks
You can be a master
Don’t wait for luck
Dedicate yourself and you gon’ find yourself
Standing in the hall of fame (yeah)
And the world’s gonna know your name (yeah)
'Cause you burn with the brightest flame (yeah)
And the world’s gonna know your name (yeah)
And you’ll be on the walls of the hall of fame
You can go the distance
You can run the mile
You can walk straight through hell with a smile
You can be the hero
You can get the gold
Breaking all the records they thought never could be broke
Yeah, do it for your people
Do it for your pride
How are you ever gonna know if you never even try?
Do it for your country
Do it for your name
'Cause there’s gonna be a day…
When you’re standing in the hall of fame (yeah)
And the world’s gonna know your name (yeah)
'Cause you burn with the brightest flame (yeah)
And the world’s gonna know your name (yeah)
And you’ll be on the walls of the hall of fame
Be a champion, be a champion, be a champion, be a champion
On the walls of the hall of fame
Be students
Be teachers
Be politicians
Be preachers
(Yeah)
Be believers
Be leaders
Be astronauts
Be champions
Be truth seekers
Be students
Be teachers
Be politicians
Be preachers
Be believers
Be leaders
Be astronauts
Be champions
Standing in the hall of fame (yeah, yeah, yeah)

TG4’s use of the guitar riff from Wake Up by RATM is class.
A bit of Seamus Moore would go down a treat
Pride in the Game of Love (of the Parish)
Wire by U2 would be a good one actually.
He should the cunt
That foam roller has you really pumped ,mate… fucking ave it!!!
Start at 0:24 here and I reckon this would work very well as a theme tune.
Apart from Wyse, Sky are likely going to have to mostly use people from the current Irish media, as they can hardly train in a novice commentator in the space of a couple of months.
I can definitely see them try to poach somebody like Darragh Maloney as their main commentator. He’s far better than Canning and they could obviously use him for soccer as well if they got him. However there’s the small matter of a World Cup coming up in two months also which Maloney will be signed up for.
The Second Captains team (or at least some of them) could be a possibility as well.
thats fucking brilliant:D
there was a fella below in the pub in Foynes at one saturday night, awful messing
Always welcome.
Have they said who will head up the presenting team and who the panelists will be etc?
