The GGA's woeful TV ratings- Why so

Hurling twice as popular :open_mouth:

Well, well well…

Not a Galway fan then?

I had no idea hurling was so popular.

Oh dear

Pretty abysmal to only attract 20% of your fan base to watch the game on TV.
I suppose it’s hard to generate interest when people already know how it finishes.

huh?

Over one million people tuned in to watch yesterday’s All-Ireland footbal final between Dublin and Mayo, making the match the most-watched show on Irish television so far this year, writes Denise O’Donoghue.

Figures released by RTÉ show Dublin’s nail-biting win over Mayo yesterday drew an average audience of 1,137,500 to RTÉ2’s live coverage of the game.

80.65% of all those watching TV at the time were tuned-in to The Sunday Game Live on RTÉ2.

The TV audience peaked at over 1.3 million people as Dean Rock pointed the winning free for Dublin (17:11) sealing a first three-in-a-row for the Dubs since the 1920s.

It also saw the highest volume of live streams for any football final ever on RTÉ Player and the strongest volume of live streams for any Sunday Game Live ever.

Total live streams reached 107,451 which includes 2,379 live streams of the Irish commentary version.

So both finals smashed records and attendances are way up — 2017 was one hell of a year.

I always wonder about these freaks who tune in for the last few minutes only. What kind of weirdo plans to just catch the last few minutes of a national final rather than taking in the entire spectacle? Presumably the likes of that freak @ChocolateMice preening at himself down in the gym and then coming home for the end of it or lads switching over at half time in Super Sunday.

Incredible scenes. 4 in every 5 people watching TV were watching the game, 100k streaming it online and another 80k at the match. Probably another few thousand watching on Sky as well. Box Office.

Let’s wait until the official figures come out.

Wheres the fun in that?

It was on in the gym, mate — – I was on the couch for the second half. It was only football ffs.

It’ll be interesting to compare the figures to Saturday’s showpiece football final in Tallaght Stadium.

The GGA isn’t here to take part, it’s here to take over

Hurling well and truly put in it’s place by these figures.

@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy spent the 2 All Ireland Sundays watching both games live along with both versions of The Sunday Game. That tells me more than any TV ratings figures.

I watched on sky - RTÉ are embarrassing

He hasn’t given his reflections on Saturday’s league cup final .
