Tragically Andy’s brother Alan made the ultimate sacrifice that day. We are all in debt to so many great men like Andy and Alan who fought to rid Europe of the scourge of fascism.
Andy himself lived to the ripe old age of 98 and only passed away in 2022, what a pity he couldn’t have been there to meet PM Sunak in Normandy this year.
Ultimately that’s what the 12th of July is all about - about fighting against fascism.
